Help with Phoenix, Arizona
Will be in Phoenix next week (M-Th) and looking for some nice restaurants preferably within walking (or reasonable cab) distance of the Hilton Pointe Squaw Peak (7677 North 16th Street). First choice is genuine Asian but that's hard to find so an excellent seafood recommendation would be great. Also, is there an Asian community within Phoenix where we could find authentic Asian grocery markets? If you can point us to that neighborhood we can usually find a good Asian restaurant nearby.
If the hours are compatible we'll take in the Phoenix Art Museum but there's little time for sightseeing. Any other evening recommendation would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: Help with Phoenix, Arizona
pm01,
I grew up in the PHX area and I could not tell you a real authentic asian eatery and there is not really an Asian population either, so I am no help there.

Re: Help with Phoenix, Arizona
PM I just remembered there is a pretty good seafood and chop house called Kincaids less than a 1/4 mile from you on 3rdst it is fairly pricey but good. In that complex there is also a theatre and some other restraunts. Also you are right to next to the ball park and symphony hall. A word of caution do not venture too far south or north outside of the downtown area. It is not a great part of town, I dont think you would be botherd but it is better safe than sorry.
Ohh and a little tip numbered streets run north and south while named streets run east and west.

Re: Help with Phoenix, Arizona
Thanks Ugly. I only assumed the neighborhood around the hotel was safe and greatly appreciate the warning. So you recommend against walking in the hotel neighborhood after dark? If you feel Kincaids has fresh seafood then we will probably try it. Any other seafood recommendations? The cab is reimbursable so we're a bit flexible. Thanks again.

Re: Help with Phoenix, Arizona
PM where you are at in the Hotel is fine but once you get south of the ball park or a mile or so north of the hotel I wouldnt walk, with my wife anyway. But that area of the Hotel is fine.
The Hyatt Compass room is a good place to eat and the room rotates to give views of the entire valley. One thing I would say is you are going to AZ eat mexican food. I have never had better mexican than I have in AZ. Find a whole in the wall and try it. Crab I couldnt help ya I am not a huge seafood guy. Maybe Scott could help or Homerdindon.

Re: Help with Phoenix, Arizona
Well one thing I can say say is that it is safe to walk where you like you are in Scottsdale baby. Unfortunetly I am not familiar with that area, I will browse that area and let you know if I have eaten anwhere close before.

Re: Help with Phoenix, Arizona
Thanks. I am sorry about the location switch, I made an assumption based upon an earlier conversation only to learn I was wrong. Thanks for any help you can send me.
