Indeed. But I think with Tim Howard and Freddy Adu, we have a good future to come.

America does not suck at it. We are ranked 12th out of 203 countries (and I think we should be a little higher than that). And we put most of our energy into other sports.

To the TS - you can't get into the world cup? If you are into the US, cheer for them in the world cup. Although it sucks to watch a 0-0 game, goals are so important that it's exciting when they are scored by your team and its devestating when they are scored against your team.

I am still holding out hope for Adu but he definitely has not lived up to the hype so far.

Another question. Why is it that you started the same stupid thread 6 months ago?

He hasn't. But he's young. And he is still a great player. He will have to be the one to step up once Donavan is too old and can't play anymore. But I think Landon is the Brett Favre of soccer, he'll be here for a while.

I've been a fan of soccer forever. I was in the stands when Brazil and Pele came to old Cleveland Municipal Stadium for a friendly against Cleveland's, then, professional soccer team in 1965.

Baseball, when done right (nowadays on sandlots during mild summer evenings), is the most RELAXING sport to watch.

I just was reading that Adu is now 20 and is an average pro. I don't follow soccer, but he was such an interesting story, being so young and so good.
One of the curses of peaking too early and having "unlimited potential". We see it all the time in wrestling

Yeah, but he's still a good player. I wouldn't say he's average. If 0 was no talent and 100 was Ronaldo (50 being average), Adu is about a 60-65. People just expected to much out of him and think he isn't worth anything now, but he is still a very valuable player.
