I disagree, some remakes are done well. I think the best "remakes" are often the ones that completely change the theme to something comedic.
Examples - "Stalag 17" to the t.v. series "Hogans Hero's" , "Airport 1975" to the film "Airplane".
With a change in theme in mind I could see some of these films remade with different stars -
"Rocky" - Carrot Top replaces Sylvester Stallone
"Alien" - Fran Drescher replaces Sigourney Weaver
"They call me MISTER Tibbs" - Eddie Murphy replaces Sidney Poitier
"Godfather" - Danny DeVito replaces Marlon Brando
"Omega Man" - Pee Wee Herman replaces Charlton Heston
