Sprinters Do these sprinters really need to ease up in the last bit of the prelim races if they are going to qualify for the next round. Is it really that exhausting to run 2 full speed 100m dashes a day? Do they really conserve that much energy not sprinting the last 20m?
Frequnetly top sprinters come close to missing moving on when they ease up too much and underestimate how close the people behind them are.
I know distance runners double up in the 5,000 & 10,000. I could see how they would need to conserve energy during qualification. |
