I spent 16 months in Nam, and ate off the economy as much as I could (the only time I ever got sick was from eating at a Marine mess!) I also lived for many years in Orange County, a center for Vietnamese who have moved to the U.S. When you go to "little Saigon" you can still find very authentic food, and there is usually someone who speaks very good English to translate for this stupid long-nose.
"Long nose" made me laugh. In China (and by my wife's friends) I'm called da bizi...or "big nose."

Man, I wish I could join you for dinner -- sounds great! But the Gulfstream's in the shop tomorrow. ;-(

"free range" organic eggs are the best. there is actually a difference in the taste. once you start eating them, you won't want to go back to the others. I need to buy some more tomorrow.

I didn't see Quaker Oatmeal, Cap'n Crunch or Count Chocula mentioned once. Remember - help the Cedar Rapids economy recover from the flood by buying Quaker products. Seriously - Quaker Oats was the largest Cedar Rapids employer impacted by the flood. EAT MORE OATMEAL!

Stardust - Aunt Jemima counts. You get this week's GG TWT rebuilding Cedar Rapids MVP award - 2 tickets to NCAA DIII Nationals, first weekend in March 2009. If you can't use them - give me a name and I'll send them for you.

My wife and three daughters eat oatmeal - or the other various hot cereals. I have never been able to abide the texture. My mother forced me to eat it as a kid - doctored every way you can - it made no difference. (Edit here where I deleted the reference to what the texture reminds me of, in defference to those who like porrage.) gg121and2, I use Quaker Oats for breads and, I promise, my next stout will be an oatmeal stout (probably in 2 weeks). That is the best I can do.
