Yes he did...I have a feeling he will go as far, if not farther than Gray Maynard did in his season. Dana doesn't always give the best "poker face" and he clearly likes CB the same way he fawned over Gray (rightly so) during that season of TUF. That can't hurt matters...
UFN Interesting night of fights, especially maybe in some people's eyes in reference to stoppages.
Houston went down in 8 seconds, but I thought the stoppage was good, that shot Irvin hit him with on the ground put him lights out.
I thought Diaz was going to get stopped when Pellegrino had the crucifix and was pounding the holy hell out of him with the elbows. Dude is an absolute BJJ snake, he knew he had it when he hooked up the triangle.
Didn't really care about Hammil v. Boetsch, Hammil's lip was nasty but he did a nice job pounding him out.
Thought Karo v. Alves got stopped kind of quick. That was a nasty knee, but Karo was still covered up and had only gotten hit twice on the ground.
With Edgar v. Maynard like Gray said in the postfight he's bigger. Really similar guys, Gray's wrestling is probably a little better, he did a great job preventing Edgar from creating the scrambles with his switches that helped win him the Griffin fight. Great TD defense. Edgar did a nice job with his stand up.
I thought the Lauzon v. Florian stoppage was ridiculous, yes Lauzon was getting hit, but he could have stayed in that position for like ten years and still stayed in pretty good shape. Regardless, nice job by Florian not letting him out of the mount. I'm glad we didn't have to listen to Kenny's "I FINISH FIGHTS!!!!" schpiel especially after that stoppage.
TUF I was absolutely horrified that we were in for a month of four sloppy fights between dudes we don't really know or care about for four straight weeks, so those highlights coming up were definitely a blessing.
Dolloway looked good as advertised, and just looking at him looks like he might be the candidate for "biggest chip on the shoulder" of the season.
Looks like the Paul Bradley/Dana White relationship is off to a positive start.
Glad to see those two guys make it through though. I enjoyed listening to Dana, Rampage, and Forrest talk during the fights.
My recap is up on the blog, and yeah, I agree with Jensen on Bradley and CB.
What a great night of fights, but I must say, I'm exhausted. Four hours straight is a lot of blogging!
First off, excellent job on blogging on entire night of matches! Terrific work across the board. A few things to reference:
- Wasn't Irvin a current/former teacher? Not to go all "where are we as a society!" but the offer to take on Alexander in the parking lot was a bit much for someone who is supposed to be role model to our youth. I anticipate a certain competitor you listed as "The Hotness" will show more class. Alexander seemed to force the whole "Nebraska's still in the building!" bit....is he fishing for a catch phrase?
- Prince McLean: I am glad you confirmed I wasn't seeing things with the whole tatoo bit. Also, the crying after the fight....meh!?!
- CB is going to be a big problem for the people he faces!
- I always thought Forrest's humor was forced....not as much anymore. He was floating back and forth during the Fight Night and TUF and had some genuingly good lines.
- Jeremy May has officially garnered the "ackward guy" roll after the trash talk to Rampage that went a little too far and put him on QR's radar screen..good luck with that junior!
- While I am still working back towards my high school / college weight and shouldn't judge, Karo looked a little "soft" in terms of his physique.
- I can't bring myself to like Nate Diaz....sorry, just the way it is. It should have been stopped, but kudos to him getting the triangle.
- Speer.....WOW was he nervous or what?? He wasn't even in the fight on a basic level.
- Jay Cutler getting boos in his own teams home city made me giggle like a school girl...especially after his comments about B. Marshall that came out.
- I CAN'T WAIT to see that knockout they teased. The noises that person is supposedly making are the equivelant of a tackle that makes a person blow snot bubbles.

Matt hamill vs. Tim Boetsch (wrestling vs wrestling).
Matt Hamill Wins by Technical Knock Out at 1:25 in the 2nd round .
I thought those were some of the sloppiest fights I have seen in a long time. I wish they would have actually shown CB's fight because he looked like he knew what he was doing. Other than that I really am disappointed with these first fights but as I said before it will weed out the bad ones so hopefully we will get great fights later.
As for the fight night all I can say is damn. Florian took it to Lauzon and Joe never had a chance IMO.
Well, of course they were sloppy. The first TUF fights always are because that's why you want to be on the show, to be a better fighter. Just as the first outfits on Project Runway are a mess, the first fights are usually ugly, too... what? I lost you with the Project Runway reference?
Spoiler Alert!!!
Dana White is throwing Paul under the bus big time. I saw Paul at nationals and Paul told me the whole scoop and it sounds like he gets royally screwed. I will leave out the specifics but Paul basically get asked to leave before the next fight. It was not Paul doing anything stupid either.
My guess is Dana didn't like the fact that Paul had a very very good chance of winning this thing and he didn't like Paul's style of fighting. A chance arose for White to make an excuse to throw Paul off the show and he took full advantage of it.
My question is what does Dana White expect a wrestler is going to do against a kickboxer. I would do the same damn thing. You know you can take him down and control him the whole time and win the fight 99% of the time.
Funny thing is while watching the show I noticed that none of the insults Dana White was throwing out were actually on camera during the fight. I would not be surprised if White didn't add them during editing. After the fact Paul went out and signed with another company. If you go back and watch it Dana is never on camera during the fight saying any of the crap about Paul. Then he goes way out of his way to talk shit about Paul's match without showing hardly any of it. What a weasel
