The 50g - 85g range we heard? Are you claiming to have something beyond that 3rd party estimate?

Word is Dana White is good friends with the ever elusive CAPster. No proof of that being the case, however...

Imagine how equitable they would be if they had the revenue streams and lifetime contracts the UFC does. It boggles the mind.
Oh Dingo, you rascal. It's already pretty well-documented that Fedor was offered approximately $2 million to fight in the UFC, with even Fedor's management admitting the UFC's offer was by far the most lucrative. You claim that these fighters are "worth that type of money"....hmmm, well, our most reliable numbers ahve Affliction somewhere between 50,000-85,000 buys and losing multiple millions of dollars. Losing money means expenses > income/revenues which usually means you're paying too much for something.

Also,(and this isn't specifically directed to Dingo) since people feel the need to make the farcical comparison to UFC 1, here you go: UFC 1 sold 86,000. Affliction, in a market much more ripe for MMA fandom with a huge explosion, appears to have undersold that by at least 1,000 in a best case scenario. By UFC 3, the UFC sold 300,000. Do you think Affliction is on that track?

With regards to the article/blog posted, I very much enjoyed this portion:

Quote:
The promotion has talked with some fighters about doing the 10/11 show for 50% of what they made on the first show (cutting down the payroll) but in return they would give those fighters easy opponents.
Nice.

--You completely made up the line about being 'worth that type of money'. You've been doing that a lot lately. Also, I don't have an ax to grind for the elite fighters. They do pretty well for themselves, Jardine, Karo and a handful of others excluded. I'm also at a loss regarding a time when I said Affliction's pay scale and business model was rock-solid. It didn't happen. I'm just intrigued by them b/c of their roster and b/c they are currently providing competition for JB and Co., which is ultimately good for the sport.

--What difference does it make what Meyrowitz/Davie/Gracie's group did with the original UFC? You guys pretend the UFC didn't exist before JB. Also, with common sense, we can see that the original UFC didn't have JB lurking in the wings and putting on a show at the exact same time of broadcast as a loss leader. It's difficult to say what the numbers would've been without the piranha move by JB. It's his prerogative, but as a fan, I certainly don't have to like it.

1. No need to get so defensive about it claiming I'm making up "lines." While it's not a direct quote, you've made several similar statements (along with CLMetal).

2. I wasn't specifically directign that at you, as I indicated, but I am not the one who made those comparisons. Since you would like to discuss it:
A. I've never pretended the UFC or MMA didn't exist before Dana White.
B. Lets go with your theory here about Dana's "piranha move" and call it a wash with the fact that the MMA market now is much more marketable and profitable then at the time of UFC 1. We call that a wash, and let's see...do you anticipate Affliction reaching 300,000 buys by their third show?
