Those were some hefty salaries and I'm sure the fighters didn't mind making that money

I don't think they can count on some of those guys to return for too much less. They won't stack cards like that again, but Fedor won't fight for you if you give him less than $1m I figure.

"After tonight those guys are going out of business and all their fighters will be over here," he said.
“They spent a lot of money tonight and I know more about this business than they do. If you spend a lot of money and you don't get that money back, you usually go out of business."Talk to the IFL... they know all about it," he added, referring to the fact that the International Fight League - which started life with a working capital of $800 million"

Dana is a f#cking idiot. How many times will he repeat something that makes no sense (although the writer is more guilty in this case). The IFL is thinly traded, it had a market cap of $800m, they never had $800m in working capital.

Working capital is current assets minus current liabilities. They had $14m at the end of 2006 after raising $23m and at the end of 2007, they had $5m after raising another $11.5m.

So they are burning through $35m, but this article instead says they had $800m in working capital.

Also, Dana wants the best fighters in the world by praying everyone else goes out of business (and in this case, by putting on a free show to hurt them).

Same thing when he wanted Rampage (WFA) and the Pride fighters. Won't pay more for them, just wants to be everyone's only option.

He has said he doesn't want Barnett, so someone like that would always be on the outside looking in when Dana is the king of MMA.

Which is doubly unfortunate because Barnett is easily a top-5 HWT and fights in a very visually pleasing style. He also is pretty bright and has a good sense of humor.

Dingo - let Dana decide. He knows more than anyone in the world about mma, he created the rules from nothing (don't listen to the retort by the NJSAC) and only he can be judge, jury, arbitor, president & owner and still decide what is fair for everyone.

Fans should be insulted that he tries to put other organizations out of business like he does. Sadly, some MMA fans are snickering along with him that the IFL is gone - the company foolish enough to provide fighters with health insurance.

He didn't invent MMA and he has already been compensated for his work. He can't hire everyone and many of the guys who have done well in these outside organizations had been released from the UFC.

BTW, noticed Markum got a $25g KO of the night bonus. That number has been going down (we are constantly told salaries are trying to catch up - be patient!)

How did this get to Dana again? I think some of you guys should start charging him rent, he's living in your heads for free at the moment. I'm sure Mr. White, excellent business man that he is, would advise you to do the same.

With regards to the IFL's starting working capital, they were founded at the beginning of 2006, not the ned. So it's entirely possible (although I have no idea) that they "started life with $800 million in working capital."
