Given the fact that Mr. Atencio paid base salaries of $5,000 to Mark Hominick, $7,000 to Savant Young, $5,000 to JJ Ambrose, $4,000 to Justin Levens, and a paltry $2,000 to Ray Lizama the statement doesn't surprise me.
He didn't even allow the last two gentlemen to fight! Who knows how much their market value could have increased with an exciting performance from the two of them.
Tom Atencio is BADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD for MMA!!!!!!

Those are good points, but since we know its sarcasm intended to lionize Dana, we have to discount them, sorry.
The guys who didn't fight were f#cked of course, I hope Affliction does right by them next time.

Actually, I think it wasn't to lionize Dana so much as to razz Dingo and yourself.

Perhaps, but I think his point is that we hold other people to different standards. And we do, I draw distinctions when people are making money (lots) vs losing money. I wouldn't expect the WNBA to pay like the NBA for that reason

As far as I know, Aflliction as a company makes over 9 figures.

Can you imagine an organization that has an overwhelming market share, is a billion dollar company according to its always scrupulous, jazzercize-loving honcho, signs its fighters to likeness contracts in perpetuity and is making money hand over fist actually paying less than Affliction's lame payouts to its low-end fighters? Can you even imagine that???
I heart Jazzy B. White.

Well, we all know the Fertitta's casinos were doing quite well when the UFC was in the toilet, but that seems to be sort of moot, don't you think? This is an MMA venture, we're not talking about the clothing company, just as no one wanted to talk about how the Fertittas weren't exactly paupers when they were crying about their losses.

I imagine the first organization is much more profitable in their market.

What? Where did you hear that (I seriously doubt it). I'd be surprised if they make any money.
I read sales in 2006 were only $7m and half of that is needed to pay for the shirts themselves. I don't doubt they have grown substantially, but they also spend a lot on advertising and promotions.
It's hard to imagine a company went from $7m in sales to at least $100m in net income, but I would like to hear what you know.
