Yes, I'm sure JB did it out of compassion and not because Lytle is a fan favorite.

Wow - I count 17 fights in the UFC/WEC dating back before Zuffa bought it.
He's kind of far from getting a title shot, but Dingo's right, he has some popular fights (as long as he is not meeting a dominant wrestler. Serra fight was boring too)

Fans want to see winners, Lytle hasn't exactly been a consistent winner. Yet the great and compassionate Dana brought him back anyway.

LOL @ JensenS doing market research to determine what fans want to see. Fans want to see exciting fights, which Lytle almost always delivers. Plus, he's a family guy and very likeable and popular on TUF to boot; i.e. he's a favorite of the fans....
....But you're probably right. JB does hate money and is well-known for his philanthropy. I'm sure you're correct that this isn't a black and white business decision to keep a popular, exciting fighter.

I'm glad they brought him back and I would understand if they didn't (since he can't challenge some of the top guys at that weight imo when they take him down and hold him)
But at the same time, he was just paid $14g for his 17th fight with them after winning a few fight of the night type bonuses. Some people here argue the UFC really rewards veterans. That isn't a great payday, sorry
