Default Kimbo Slice returns in fall -- but Brett Rogers not a definite opponent

EliteXC heavyweight Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson (3-0) will return to action this fall, but a fight with Brett Rogers (8-0) is neither signed nor even guaranteed at this point. Doug DeLuca, executive chairman of Pro Elite, Inc. (EliteXC's parent company), shared the organization's plans for its highly marketed heavyweight during a media conference call today. According to DeLuca, Slice is busy training for his next fight, which will take place in the fall -- most likely on another nationally televised CBS event.

That fihgt needs some more build up. Both guys keep winning, you match them up in about a year or so and you have a huge pay per view as a result, or gigantic numbers on CBS if it's shown there.

Come on Adolf, normally we agree on things but Kimbo wont be turning in big numbers, at least not with the hardcore fans who realize what a cluster fu*k his last fight was.

He better hope that Reality Kings doesnt hire any new muscle cause he's gonna need his job back.

Pimach it's all about marketing. Affliction will do about 50k buys from the hard core junkies and they will put on a tremendous card. Kimbo will do about 10 million views and they will be from the hardcore fan that mostly turns in to hate on him, and from the casual fan who watched him in a back and forth battle that ended in spectacular and exciting fashion, against James Thompson.

I tell you, I get approached here at the plant almost daily about MMA and more than half the comments/questions are about the intriguing big man from sarasota.

You might be right in some aspects, but the reason he will get 10 mil people to watch is that its on FREE tv as opposed to PPV. If you put Affliction on CBS I bet theyd get 10 mil people to watch.

Also, the people that approach you are probably all the pervs who only know Kimbo because they saw the Reality Kings symbol on his shorts.

Rogers is no world-beater, but he's too dangerous of an opponent right now for the Kimbo machine. They will certainly give him someone else - someone he has a chance to finish in spectacular fashion. They need that to restore some hype.

Sadly, Adolf might be right. Kimbo>Fedor in terms of fan interest. No one watched Fedor-Lindland while Kimbo's last fight made it in the record books

I would not be surprised if Elite XC signs Gannon and they put the epic rematch together. Kimbo may be good enough to beat Gannon at this point. They could certainly sell the cop vs big black man from the hood angle. Hell, Rampage may have just helped them to sell that fight, before the fight was ever even booked.

Adolf - that would be a great business idea. They should also add strong matchups to the card with quality fighters, but this main event would get attention.

I'm sure Gannon would stand; the UFC gave him a D2 wrestling champ and he never had a chance.
