Default New champ Josh Thomson searches for new challenges

Riding a six-fight win streak and holding the Strikeforce U.S. lightweight championship belt, Josh "The Punk" Thomson (15-2) still entered the June 27 "Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Thomson" event a decided 3-to-1 underdog against his longtime training partner and Strikeforce world lightweight champion Gilbert "El Nino" Melendez.

The San Jose, Calif. native defied the odds and defeated Melendez decisively, winning a unanimous decision by scores of 50-45 on all three judges' cards.

Now, he needs a new challenge. Find out what Thomson had to say about Frank Shamrock, Jorge Masvidal and even KJ Noons as possible opponents.

He truly lives up to his nickname-The Punk
When Josh first started MMA in North Idaho/Washington area, he talked a lot of smack, my buddy challenged him and he never accepted. A couple years later, Josh showed back up to a small local venue and, gained 20 + pounds of muscle (steroids-thanks to Bob Cook), talked more crap to my friend (who stopped training and weighed about 130 pounds). Dennis Hallman thought what he was doing was lame and stepped in claiming he would fight him, Josh claimed he had not be training and would not want to fight unless he had plenty of time to prepare. A year later he gets KTFO by Yeves Edwards in the UFC.
I also talked to Nick Diaz at UFC 84 about his long time dispute with his gym. He told me they were a bunch of racist losers. I would love to see Nick and Josh go at it.

I've heard about the racism as well. Something about being involved with a hate group or along those lines. Being German, I do not approve of his actions.
