So a few of the big MMA sites are reporting that Dana White has been talking (you don't say??) and claims to have a huge annoucement. It's supposed to be something that will "blow people's minds" and "an indicator of where this business is going in the next five years".

Its been speculated that with the ratings EliteXC got that it could be a major TV deal for the UFC and I've love to see it. Dana though is the King of Hyperbole so who knows? He says there will be a press conference Thursday to announce this.

Other possiblities in my opinion could be...

Another big sponsorship. While its not that exciting for us fans Budweiser was a huge addition and shows how far MMA has come in the US. Could it be something similar?

A WEC merger. I'm sure it would be nice to promote Faber and Torres under the UFC name.

The UFC goes to Georgia. Dana has recently commented that he wants to have UFC 88 in Atlanta with Chuck fighting. It's not the most exciting annoucement in the world, but Dana has been known to hype up these things.

others are saying Mayweather. Considering Zuffa already has a deal with FSN, it's in the bag or should be with fox.

Thats what I've been reading, and if the two wind up combined and we get say Chuck v. Shogun for free in September.

UFC is expected to make several announcements on Thursday.

1) Anderson Silva will be fighting in the light heavyweight class
2) Chuck Liddell will fight in the main event on the September pay-per-view in Atlanta

However, the big announcement being rumored is that Floyd Mayweather will be signing or has signed with UFC. For those that did not read our last update, Mayweather announced his retirement from boxing. If this signing turns out to be the case this would be a huge coup for UFC as it would surely attract some of the boxing fans that have not given UFC a chance.

I would think that if the Mayweather stuff is true, the "big announcement" would include a 145 lb division to the UFC.
