More than two-thirds of IFL mixed martial arts athletes come from the high school and collegiate wrestling ranks..
Numerous IFL athletes, including current champions Jay Hieron, Roy Nelson, Vladimir Matyushenko, Ryan Schultz and Ryan McGivern, have an accomplished wrestling background. In addition, former middleweight champion Matt Horwich earned a silver medal at the World Grappling Games in the summer of 2007 and his coach Matt Lindland is an Olympic Silver Medalist.

ISU2008 -- if female fights interest you, there is the Fatal Femmes Fighting event this weekend in Cali. It's a sick card stacked with a ton of the top female fighters in the world. See www.fatalfemmesfighting.com for details.
I haven't shot an all-female card before, but EliteXC and a few other promotions usually have one female fight on the card (like the ShoXC fight I shot back in January that featured former wrestler Tonya Evinger vs Julie Kedzie). Gina Carano is fighting on the upcoming EliteXC event on May 31st in Newark, which I would like to attend.

I'll be adding more soon, but this one was one of my favorites (even though Delson Heleno ended up losing the fight): | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
