True Lotta, but CB, "The Hotness" (oh god Blue, look what you've done to everyone), and Bradley each have far more wrestling credentials than both of those guys combined. I saw CB tech Jesse Taylor once, and I felt bad for Taylor.
Solid episode. The Riddle/Dante stuff was pretty funny. They seemed like they were going at each other and just generally having a good time.
Credeur's line after the fight selection about Schultz not being a guy that was going to make him get better was pretty funny. CB calling Schultz out as the worst guy there basically right in front of him was pretty funny too.
In terms of the match up, I was kind of disappointed when it was announced as I like both guys so I was disappointed to see that one was going to have to go out early. Tim talked a lot of trash through the episode, but Riddle was just steady chilling out. You can tell Rampage really likes Riddle too with the way that he just kept talking to him through out the episode during the prep.
I was excited to see that we got to the fight so early, as it pretty much said that we were going to get a good fight, and it certainly didn't disappoint. Riddle had some nice takedowns in the first, but Tim showed why he was a jiu jitsu black belt with some nice sweeps and stand ups, he did good work with the mount there at the end of the first there too.
First half of round two was more of the same, but when they got back up to the feet things looked like they had a shot to get interesting as Tim looked loopy. Maybe it was a result of that ridiculously illegal upkick Matt threw. They got back down, Riddle didn't listen to Rampage to stand up like he should have, Tim was able to recover, and then Riddle got mounted and armbarred by a legit blackbelt.
Good fight. Next week looks fun with Rampage getting angry, Bisping coming back and doing and saying Bisping things, and Jeremy May being a douche bag.
Didn't these guys watch last season at all? You listen to your coaches. Period. Ugh. It's also interesting to see the coaches getting frustrated with, well, coaching. I love coaching more than anything, but it also one of the most frustrating things I've done with my time. My recap is up, by the way.
I would have never thought CB could write so well! I know he is a great wrestler (watched him all through High School) and his MMA is pretty strong (look for him to win this whole thing), but writing?
- Liked Tim's line "Matt Riddle helped make me a better fighter", very respectful.
- Enjoyed being able to watch Michael Bisping do and say Michael Bisping things.
- Vak's characterization of Jeremy May from a few pages as a "dip (pun certainly not intended" shit" seems pretty apt, definitely can tell why both CB and Luke don't like him. I would assume most people who get laid three times a day don't need to try and brag about it on TV too.
- Forrest's coaches seem to be really on point with the things they're doing, I'd assume they have those pages of notes for everyone. It almost sounded like they went out and got tape on them from other fights not just from their fights on the show.
- First round was pretty boring, thought Dante might have been close for a second on that footlock though and it was funny to hear Forrest's assistant coaches yelling at him to "break it". I thought the "Stop, stop, stop....no fight!" was pretty funny too. Way to be Mazz.
- I was surprised to see it go to OT, I thought Dante clearly won both rounds albeit in unimpressive fashion. Looked like Brandon thought the same thing with his body language after the second. Dante definitely won the boring OT. Again, Brandon's body language shown a beaten man. Dante didn't impress me though, his conditioning looked horrendous. Dana cracked me up with his commentary "not like either one of them made me say "f*ck yeah, I'm glad we've got that guy in the UFC"!
- Its not like the fight result should have surprised anyone either. Promo's showed Rampage throwing a fit. Rampage didn't throw a fit before the fight started. Rampage is going to throw a fit if his guy wins? That was an impressive one too, right up there with some of Hughes' better ones from last season.
- I hope Matt whups that doofus' ass next week, thats a GREAT staredown. I did think it was pretty ridiculous to see him try and punk Jeremy next week after the weigh ins, and Jeremy didn't do anything. I think Ken Shamrock is the only person I've ever seen flinch in the MMA world when someone did something like that. Glad we get two fights next week.
I was literally falling asleep during the OT round. I just expected better. Alright-it's ice cream time for me, since the recap is done. I hope you enjoy it!
