Ok so what going to happen this weekend....
Main Event--BJ Penn vs Joe Stevenson (Interim LW title)
This is an excellent matchup. Biggest test to date for Joe Daddy. BJ looked in great shape in his last fight w/ Jens Pulver. BJ's only knock has been his training/dedication, so if he is as focused on this fight as he was with Jens, BJ will be downright scary. My concern is the trash talk I've seen lately by BJ with Sean Sherk and his desire to move up to fight GSP. Hopefully he isn't looking past Joe. I like BJ in the fight but I'm not sure of an ending. If it goes the distance (5 rounds) it would tend to favor Joe. However, with Joe's stocky build I don't know if BJ can choke him out. Maybe...

Fabricio Werdum vs Gabriel Gonzaga
I forgot until rewatching the Couture/Gonzaga fight that GG was actually the favorite, by Vegas. He is big and dangerous. Werdum however, owns a win over GG in the past. Werdum could be fighting for his UFC career. It's no secret Dana and Co. wasn't too pleased with his fight vs Arlovski. The winner could be in the mix for a title shot in the near future.

Marcus Davis vs Jess Laudin
This could be a showcase for Marcus Davis. He was possibly one of the most improved fighters in 2007. Davis had primarily a boxing background, but obviously has worked hard to improve his all-around game. The Frenchman Laudin has a 5-fight winning streak and won't hesitate to trade blows with Davis on their feet.

Jason Lambert vs Wilson Gouveia
This fight was supposed to take place on the UFC 76 card. Gouveia pulled out w/ a broken nose. Lambert has not fought since his upset of Babalu in March of 2007. This really doesn't excite me, but who knows maybe it will be a good fight

Kendall Grove vs Jorge Rivera
This is a make-or break fight for Grove. If he loses he may be around because of contractual reasons, but may not ever be considered a contender. A win starts Kendall back up the middleweight ladder. Luckily for him the middleweight division is thin as hell. I don't think this should be much of a fight, but I also thought that about Grove/Cote.
Grove TKO 2nd
