I think it's obvious, that if he would dedicated himself to the sport of wrestling, the sky would have been the limit.

I thought I made it clear that Gentry is the #1 guy in Canada, but I do not understand the rest of what you said, did you think I was talking about the American wrestlers or something? I said gsp would not have made it through the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th ranked Canadian wrestlers, and if you do not understand that then I can not help you.

You still haven't answered my question. Since you are such an aficionado of Canadian wrestling, I'd like to know: if GSP had foregone his MMA career, and stuck solely with wrestling, would he be representing Canada in the Olympics?

That actually is not too hard to answer.

Matt Hughes wasn't close to being an Olympian and you can almost guarentee he would never have been if he stuck with wrestling.

I doubt GSP is getting anywhere close to being able to make the Canadian Olympic team. Canadians are not close to the best in the world, but they are not a complete joke either. Maybe he trains takedowns and MMA takedown defense with them. But it would be a major waste for him to train on gutwrenches ankle laces and par terre defense, if he wants to stay on the top of the MMA world.

GSP started training freesytle wrestling at Victor Zilberman's place (BTW sissaouri , japaridze train there too) circa 2001 .
    He's a natural athlete , strong physically and a hard worker .
If he dedicates himself to FW rather than MMA he could place in canada's top 3 .

Look what St. Pierre did to Josh Koscheck in their recent MMA match. He took him down at will and controlled him there. He's not a wrestler, so it would take a lot of time. But if he put himself to it. . . in my opinion there's no doubt he would be outstanding.

I have heard GSP has a cabinet full of wrestling trophy's and he ahbndled these folkstyle wrestelrs very easy, but i think the standard inf reestyle is much higher so....

He would be good but only within Canadian nationals....
