Just something fun to ask...if you have a category you'd like to add, by all means do so.
Fighter of the Year: For me this one has to be Rampage. Avenges one of his losses with some "black on black crime" to Eastman on the Super Bowl card. Takes the belt from Chuck, and then beats Hendo in a very underrated 5 round decision.
KO of the Year: Much as it pains me to say, I don't think Gonzaga over Cro Cop can be argued.
Submission of the Year: Diaz's gogo of Gomi wins here for me, although Forrest choking out Shogun is probably a close second
Top 3 Fights of the Year: 1. Nick Diaz v. Takanori Gomi: Just awesome, not the cleanest fight in terms of technique wise, and Gomi was dead tired very quickly. But these two went out there, busted each other up standing, and then a very memorable finish
2. Frank Edgar v. Tyson Griffin: One of the best displays of groundfighting I've seen in an MMA fight since the fights that Diaz, Karo, and Diego had with each other, great transitions through out, and some exciting striking. Like Diaz v. Gomi this had one of those memorable moments with Edgar getting caught in the knee bar and not tapping
3. Quinton Jackson v. Dan Henderson: I said up top that I thought this was a very underrated fight. It didn't necessarily have an exceptionally memorable moment except for maybe the five different facial expressions that Hendo went through during the staredown, but this was just a high quality fight. Both guys stayed active through out, hit each other with big shots in the stand up, and did good work in the clinch and on the ground.
