Tim Sylvia will face Ray Mercer in a boxing match in the main event of Adrenaline MMA III at the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort in Atlantic City, N.J May 30. Mmajunkie.com confirms a fiveouncesofpain.com report that a Sylvia vs Mercer boxing match was in the works.
The 47 year old boxer is coming off a win against a top 5 ranked 30-2 boxer and is 6-2 since 2002.
    Monte Cox tells MMAjunkie.com:
?You just have no idea who is going to win,? Cox said. ?I don?t care if he?s 47 (years old). He?s been boxing his whole life, won an Olympic gold medal, went to split decision with Lennox Lewis. Believe me, he?s going to hit hard. Tim?s going to have a hard time.?
Tim Sylvia?s last fight came against Fedor, a loss in Affliction: Banned last July.

    My thoughts exactly
"All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become."

I'll watch... But what does Sylvia have to gain from this? If he wins, it's not as if he's going to get much respect from the MMA or boxing community. They'll all just see it as him beating up on an old washed-up boxer. And if he loses, well, he'll have a hard time living it down, even though it's boxing. And all the anti-MMA boxing purists will have a field day.

Any idea of how many rounds this fight will be? I doubt this will be a 12 rounder.
