The news years card this year is really below average. 2 years ago, we had Chuck - Wanderlei and GSP - Hughes on that card.

True, those were good fights as well. I know the UFC didn't have a lot of choices with people being injured and all, but they could have found a more legit main event.

They had 3 main events fall through. Lesnar-Carwin, Silva-Belfort, and Nog-Velasquez. Penn was fighting in decemeber, machidad broke his hand and wont fight till april, and gsp was not ready to fight yet either.. Not a whole lot of options for them.

They could have put Velasquez against Randy or Mir I'm sure. Or even better, bring Fedor in for the night to fight Mir. Either one of them may have accepted the fight after coming out of their last fight unhurt. I know Mir didn't know that until Saturday, but this card is seriously lame.

Or even moved up the Hardy - GSP fight. Hardy will never have enough time to stuff his takedowns and it's one of the least anticipated title fights out there.

Hey I actually like Gonzaga. I think he is immensely talented and could be a wrecking machine. Unfortunately I have seen some signs from him that indicate that he either has a weak gas tank or may lack a little heart. Plus I am rooting big time for Carwin.

Updated, some interesting fights on the horizon, although ufc 122 is shaping up to be an absolute clunker. Granted it will be free and there is still time to add some big names but as for now not much to get excited over.
