There is a new rumor floating around the Internet regarding a possible light heavyweight clash between former UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Randy Couture and the undefeated Lyoto Machida.

Any possibility of a fight between the UFC Hall-of-Famer and Machida would rely on the outcome of the Quinton Jackson vs. Keith Jardine light heavyweight fight at UFC 96.

So you already have a built in an excuse for when Machida destroys Couture? If he is an old man and that will be used to discredit the great Machida, then I would rather the fight not happen.

If Jackson were to win as he is expected, he would automatically get a title shot against Rashad Evans at UFC 100 if both fighters are healthy. That would mean that Machida gets left out of the title picture once again and would pave the way for a fight with Couture.

I like this fight a lot. Could be a very technical fight and one where we get to see what Machida can to against a guy that's not injured, (Tito Ortiz), just getting his feet wet in the game, (Silva) or way over rated and one dimensional, (Sokujou sp?). Sure Randy is nearly eligible for social security, but the old man still has a fight or two left in him. If this fight happens and Machida can win, I've got him in my top 3 at LHW and deserves a shot at Rampage.

I see that you already have an excuse handy for after Machida destroys Couture.

Machida can only fight who they put in front of him. He has smashed everyone they have told him to fight, so dont put an old man in front of him. Give him Rampage and he will wax rampages ass as well. I am sure you will have another excuse ready for rampage, maybe he will not take his training camp seriously again.

I already stated, if Machida can beat Randy, I'll consider him top 3 and in line for a title shot. if he can't beat Randy, what excuse do you need? Randy is nearly 50 years old, surely he can beat the old man. If not, it will prove he's not championship caliber at this time. No excuses what so ever. Lets just hope the Dragon takes this fight and finally showcases what he has against elite competition.

Just wanted to make sure you acknowledged that a win over coutue would be very impressive. Couture isa great fighter but machida will simply be too much for him.
