I don't believe that Jardine has the tools to execute a game plan that defeats Rampage Jackson. He is probably better off throwing bombs and hoping to hurt Page. From a strategic stand point, Jardine wants to fight from a distance and use kicks to keep the former light heavyweight champion off of him and in order to rack up points. The problem with that is that he has to avoid Page from getting inside and hurting him. With Jackson's excellent head movement and level changes, this will prove too much for Jardine to overcome. Quinton walks right through him, shades of Wanderlei Silva.
"UFC President Dana White was a recent guest on the syndicated local California Radio Show, The Tom Leykis Show. While his appearance on the show was brief, he had some interesting things to say regarding the Light Heavyweight division. In particular White said that if Lyoto Machida is victorious over Thiago Silva on Jan 31st, then he will be granted a title shot for the Light Heavyweight Championship. However, he went on to say that if Silva gets the win over Machida, Silva will still need one more victory under his belt before he is granted a title opportunity."
As I said this gives my man Machida a shot at the title.
Yea it could be an extremely boring fight as they are both counter strikers. I am hoping Machida opens up this fight and puts a beating on Silva.
I think Machida was overly cautious against Tito because of his nerves and Titos wrestling. The fight before that he was pretty aggressive and tore apart Sokoudjou. He dominated Nakamura and dropped Hoger 3 times and Hoger has a way of making a lot of fighters look bad. Machida has also knocked out Franklin and Bonnar.
Maybe, but if you aren't coming at him hard, it will look like he is dancing too much and the fans will boo and the fight will be lame. A 5 rounder like that would be a terrible main event. He's good, but needs someone to press him to make fireworks. Wanderlei would be a neat matchup (unless he has a connection to Chute Box)
Jardine sticks to the Chuck Liddell game plan and kicks Rampage into submission.
