    Default UFC 93 Results/Videos/Discussion (spoiler)

Great main event, but I wish Dan didn't give away the 3rd round after winning the first two nicely. During the decision, I got worried when the one judge gave Rich a 30-27 decision - seriously, how is that possible? No one can argue that Rich won the first round or won a 10-8 round either. Maybe Cecil Peoples was that judge and maybe Bisping was sitting next to him.

Coleman - Rua. Pathetic exhaustion. Coleman was gassed in under 2 minutes and Rua had plenty of chances to finish him (he wasn't defending himself). Of course the stoppage sucked with so little time left, Mark was hurt, but turning in for a takedown. I guess the excitement of returning to the UFC offset all the extra cardio that Mark said he was doing. I like Mark a lot, but this has happened too many times and the UFC doesn't need guys to win early and gas.

Kang - another guy headed downhill. Also gassed a little, but no way he should be losing by submission to people. It's too bad we never saw him meet Filho in that final, because both of them seem to have fallen from that point.

Davis - Lytle, I thought Lytle won, I was kind of surprised. And its a little disappointed when the favorites of fans and management are the guys who pledge to keep the ground game out of the fight - people should watch K-1 if that's what they want mma to be.

Based on the UFC point system I gave Henderson the first two and Franklin the third. I wish it would have been a 5 round fight considering the talent level.

Henderson really did nothing to actually beat up Franklin outside of secure a few takedowns. He was clearly losing the standup and on the ground he was not able to advance to any dominant position or do any damage with gnp. He did not even really dictate where the fight went as Franklin was able to get back to his feet.

Dan landed a few good shots standing too - I thought he won the standup portion of round 1 and the standup portion of round 2 was fairly close. He also did some gnp in both rounds.

It would be nice if two proven veterans like that could have 5 rounders. Although Dan took the 3rd round off completely, he used to do that in the middle of Pride fights too - content with winning by a narrow margin. I was hoping he would at least turn it up after the eye poke (since he got a break). He has a better chin than Franklin does, and should have been more willing to throw hard.

Did you watch it the way you said you would?

I ended up just walking down to a bar that is like 20 feet from me to watch it. It was nice as the bar was empty and I got to watch it on the big screen.

Did you see that Liddell vs. Shogun is set for UFC 97 and Jardine vs. Rampage is set for UFC 96. Adolf tries to act smart but it looks like they are still positioning Liddell for a title shot.

Wow - they showed it during the day? I didn't even realized they were going to air it live until today.

Liddell Shogun sb a great matchup, but Shogun has looked terrible for the 2nd strait fight (worse, he had a gassed opponent who wasn't even blocking shots). Chuck shouldn't be a win away from a title shot anyways.

What is the deal with Machita? They could also give Chuck Vera, Forrest or Franklin instead.

I don't think Jardine can handle Rampage's strength. Plus he looks small for 185, let alone 205.

Yea they are doing the replay tonight.

    Shogun was pathetic.

Machida is the best lhw in the world its just a matter of him getting the title shot.

Why would Vera get a shot he has lost 3 out of 4 and has no good wins at 205 anyway.

Forrest broke his hand and is out for awhile.

I tried to tell p jersey that Dan Hollywood Henderson would win and that the Franklin coaching on TUF was a moot point, but I can never get that guy to listen to me. Oh well, at least we have a guy coaching that actually appreciates the opportunities that Dana White and the UFC provide for him. War Dan!

I was saying Vera should be a fight for Chuck, since that is something they used to talk about when he was a HWT.

Is Machita under a contract dispute with the UFC or something?

Adolf, when Dan was being brough over from Pride he said the UFC was being frugal and wanted the Pride fighters to take less money since they planned on spending a lot of money to expand in Europe. He then complimented how Pride was compensation wise. Dan's paid well, not saying he's not but he was happy in Pride.
