Thanks for posting these. Just goes to show that you shouldn't mess with wrestlers!

Is it a point of pride for wrestlers to box, rather than wrestle, when they fight MMA? None of them really even tried to use their takedown skills to advantage. Worked out for Cormier and Lawal, but former world champion Romero got knocked out because he insisted on getting into a slugfest.

The reason Cormier and Lawal kept it standing was b/c the guys they were fighting are far superior submission artists. They probably just didn't want to get caught like Sonnen did against Silva. Once they learn how to stay out of subs and can still ground and pound, like Couture and Hughes, then they will use the takedowns. It all just depends on who you are fighting. But one thing that you have to notice is that b/c of their wrestling they were able to keep the fight where they wanted it. Gracie hates standup fights but knew he couldn't take Lawal down, same with Silva. That is something my non-wrestling friends fail to realize when they watch a wrestler box.

Great card, but horrible attendance and viewership. This rated as one of their worst attendance ever (approx 2,000) and "iewership ranked 3rd (approx 275,000). That is worst than most Bellator shows. Very sad considering the card was every bit as good as the average UFC pay per view.
I pictured you as that guy Gaylord in Showboat, passing up taxis to walk because he's broke and playing it off as if it's the doctor's advice. - Clmetal

A couple of my judo buddies went to it and hung out with Dan Mergiolotta afterwards. They said they had a great time, but I don't remember asking them how crowded it was. US Bank Arena is not very big though. Not sure exactly but I'm guessing maybe a 10k seat arena, give or take 1-2k. Not to mention the fact that the Cincy area highways are all f-ed up now. That might have helped with low attendence. But you're right, it was a good card.
