I'm sure Goldberg will mention "father time" in discussing this fight and it will be the most ___ of something when its being promoted.

I am assuming you are pulling the "you are using if" card as though the UFC or Liddel do not think past the next fight or how things might play out.

Bottom line if you look at the two weight classes it is easier to push Liddell back into being relevant in the title picture. Match him up against a guy he knocked out twice who has a huge name and that makes him relevant again.

PJ I think you are being naive again. Next you're going to tell me that the Eagles are going to make a run at the division crown and then the Lombardi trophy. The UFC doesn't need anyone to earn title shots or to build anyone's career for the sake of the fans. The reason I have no interest in this fihgt is becuase it serves no purpose, other than to milk one moremain event out of the natural. It will likely be billed as his retirementt fight, or battle of legends, etc. Lots of fans like that, I couldn't care less. I'd much rather see the Spider take Chuck out and put him on the shelf for good. Best case scanario for UFC is Chuck wins and then they can match him up against someone else of note and generate another main event. if you think Liddell is going up to heavyweight in order to make a run at the belt, you probably also think Philly is within striking range of the playoffs.

Doesn't seem like too many fans are excited about this (based on our group here).

So many better guys for these 2 to fight. Disappointing actually when you assume that each of them only have a few fights left.

Lesnar and Chuck are probably the 2 worst matchups for Randy - wonder if that has anything to do with it? If he gets KOd again, no one will talk about him fighting Fedor. And if Nog becomes champ, that's another rerematch I have no need to watch.

I am have no interest in the fight either and I have no allusions about Liddell being a top fighter at the heavyweight division. I just think that the UFC thinks they can push Liddell easier at 205 and place him in a title fight with a win over Couture.

I think he'd have a good chance of beating Nog actually, maybe they want him to go out on that note? Win over Couture then a win over Nog?

Maybe, I do think he would have a better chance against Nog than Lesnar although I think Liddell vs Lesnar would sell huge ppvs.

Nog does not hit hard or fast and he does not have great takedowns so he could have problems with Liddell. I think it would be a decision win one way or the other.

Well we disagree again PJ. I don't believe the UFC has any illusions of Chuck challenging for the heavyweight belt. I believe this fight is simply to sell pay per views and then they'll figure out where to go next. They can give Chuck a shot even coming off a ko loss they could say he had surgery for a bad toe and now he's better than ever. I just don't want to see you being na?ve and thinking this is about a bigger plan where Liddell challenges for the belt. This is for ppv sales now and nothing more
