Thread: WEC Weigh-Ins--Filho slightly over

Back in the old country, we had a guy who would routinely miss weight by 3 or 4 kilos the first time around. He'd then go out and make weight on his 2nd try. Never had an issue with missing it, just the way he did things. it worked for him and it seemed to bother everyone else, even his opponents. I think it was a great tactic looking back on it.

It's not like he's had months to get down to weight or anything. Missing weight, unless it's by .5 just cuz of scale differences or whatever, is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.

There has to be more penalties for people when they miss weight, you show up 7 pounds over it means you didn't even try.

“He attacked my pride last time,” Filho said in an exclusive video interview with Sherdog.com. “He could have acted like a man, a professional, but he acted like a teenager, a spoiled brat. He will pay for that in the cage. He’s fighting someone who’s there to kill or get killed and doesn’t give up.”

Interesting comments only recently from someone who missed weight so badly. Check out the video below where he says he didn't fight well last time because he had a hard time cutting weight but he's better at it now. However, he's elusive when asked directly how much he weighs at the moment, talking instead about how well-prepared he is and how he's learned to cut weight better than last time.

Filho will end up at 205 and not because he is too big for 185. He does not take his diet or training seriously and obviously didn't try to cut very hard. He looked soft in the weigh ins so its not like he was sucked down and dehydrated.

I like his "strategy" to get better at cutting weight...don't even try!

Does anyone have the link to where we can watch these fights online? I don't get Versus and don't really feel like going to a bar or something to watch it. Thanks in advance.

I don't know of any live streams. Typically you won't find the fights until the next day.

I heard from a very reliable source that Filho didn't even hardly train for this fight. I guess that explains him being over so much.
