    Default Dollaway/Massenzio

CB told me the other night that Jorge Rivera backed out of their fight (I can't blame him, his daughter died not too long ago, I wouldn't be ready to fight yet either) and that he will be facing Mike Massenzio in December. Should be interesting fight, seeing as how they wrestled in the JUCO finals back in the day.

Who won? I see "Clarence" (lol) was a JUCO champ in 2003 and Massenzio was in 2004 (so I am guessing Clarence won)

Interesting. Legtlace has said massenzios boxing is pretty good and I expect this to be a mostly stand up fight.
I always root for wrestlers but ill have to go with the jersey boy on this one.

Dan miller another jersey wrestler has replaced almeida and will be fighting matt horwich at ufc 90.

Holy crap! I missed this. This was high on my wishlist. I know Mike wanted this pretty bad. CB beat him pretty decisively in what Mike considered a bad match. They both cancel out one another pretty well. Mike is more explosive on the mat than CB. But CB is a slicker wrestler. But I have to say that Mike is a tougher wrestler than jesse Taylor was. For those that do not know, Mike had all the talent coming out of high school. Watch his high school videos, he was certainly AA material.

As for submissions, I say they are even. But on their feet, which we may see a lot of may be where it needs to be decided. CB gets excellent training on his feet. His kicking is really evolving. But his boxing is just ok. Massenzio has good punching mechanics, but not the kicking ability of CB. I think Massenzio shocks the UFC with this win as I think this will be decided by boxing. I really always felt massenzio should have been in TUF instead of Dante Rivera. Somehow, they passed up Mike for Dante. I am interested if Mike even auditioned. Who knows what would have happened.

    Thanks,

I just tried reading up on the gym a little bit and it seems there are quite a few talented amateurs as well as young pro prospects.

leglace - Thanks for the info/assessment. I would give Massenzio the edge in submissions though.

Your welcome Metsfan. Though, I am a big fan of CB's Peruvian necktie. I love that move!
