Nice show of guts by Petruzelli too taking a fight on such short notice against the crowd favorite with a weight advantage (I think Seth has even fought at middleweight before). Also, in regard to the notice ... according to a report by Dave Meltzer on Yahoo:

The Petruzelli match was in doubt until the last minute, as according to several sources, Slice?s handlers demanded a considerable amount of extra money to agree to the new opponent.

Frank Shamrock, Ken?s adopted brother, is on site to announce on the CBS broadcast. The former UFC and Strikeforce champion volunteered to take the fight on no notice, but he is a middleweight who is coming off a broken arm in his last fight.

I also heard that some betting agencies refunded bets on the Shamrock/Kimbo fight early in the day - so somebody knew pretty early that Ken was not fighting.
Wow, was Frank Shamrock really about to step in for Ken? That would have been awesome

I wouldn't be surprised if Frank knew there wasnt a chance in the world that they would let him fight, and thus threw his hat in the ring, knowing it would do nothing but make him look brave, when in fact there wasn't a chance they'd allow it to happen.
    Lets go Brent!

Additional info reported by Meltzer regarding Frank:
In the scramble to find a suitable replacement that Slice couldn?t possibly lose to, EliteXC considered Shamrock?s brother, Frank, who was there to be CBS?s color commentator, hadn?t fought lately due to a broken arm and would have given up around 45 pounds. Despite all this, Frank likely would have submitted Kimbo in the first round.
When that matchup couldn?t happen (EliteXC said state officials wouldn?t clear him, Frank said they did but CBS blocked it), EliteXC promoters turned to Petruzelli.
