Strikeforce Ring Riot: Blame Jason "Mayhem" Miller, Not Diaz Brothers
In regards to Saturday night's Strikeforce Nashville post-fight melee, involving newly crowned champion Jake Shields, my thoughts are that Jason "Mayhem" Miller should be the one with the most explaining to do.
Shields was enveloped in giving his acceptance speech, and much the same way musician Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift during a certain award show ceremony, Miller rudely interrupted him, asking for a rematch.
Consequently, Shields' Gracie Gym teammate and fellow victorious Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez, came to his friend's defense by stepping up to Miller and pushing him backwards; which in turn led to another Strikeforce champ Nick Diaz and his brother, UFC fighter Nate Diaz, both becoming involved.
CBS announcer Gus Johnson's shouts of "Gentlemen, we're on national television," seemed to fall on deaf ears, as the pile-up grew steadily larger, with Miller at the bottom, and referee John MacCarthy trying to subdue the eldest Diaz brother.
Miller, who is a sort of talentless "sideshow Bob" of MMA, has now dealt another low blow to the fastest growing sport in the world, and in my view, he should be banned, fined, or at least punished accordingly.
Miller is the asinine host of MTV's "Bully Beatdown," and resembling a child seeking the attention of the adults the room, he chose to rudely steal the championship spotlight from Shields; he then got what was coming to him.
The Diaz brothers may be sibling thugs from the streets of Stockton, Calif., but they are also "brothers in arms" so to speak, with their cage fighting teammates.
They are a team in every sense of the word, and they take care of each other, as teammates in any sport would, and rightfully should.
Certainly we can all learn from this mini-riot, but lets be honest, there was only one instigator, who was looking unjustifiably for his 15 minutes of CBS fame.
That man was Miller, and the onus of responsibility should be placed firmly with him.

Yeah, given the writers opinion of Miller, you could say he had an axe to grind. Miller is one of the toughest sobs in MMA.
I pictured you as that guy Gaylord in Showboat, passing up taxis to walk because he's broke and playing it off as if it's the doctor's advice. - Clmetal

Yes another terrible job by mmareporter. Calling miller talentless instantly takes all credibility away from the article.

How about if we blame both of them? Is that cool, MMAreporter?
Jacob Schlottke---Gone too soon, and the world is a little less bright because of it. RIP, brother.
One, two, Evans is coming for you...

I'm very positive that Strikeforce asked him to go into the cage and hype up the fight, as UFC did with Evans after Rampage's victory. And if that ends up not being true, then it is still cowardly to jump a guy 4-1 (or whatever number it may have been).
Miller not talented? He is a damn better striker then Shields and during their fight, if it had not been for the bell, Shields would have been sleeping seconds later.
