For the third consecutive year, FILA organised the World Wrestling Games in Tirana/Durres (ALB) on 20 and 21 September 2008. That competition whose aim is to bring together all the non-Olympic disciplines managed by FILA was a great success in terms of participation. Indeed, 20 countries took part in the competitions of Grappling, Belt Wrestling Alysh, Beach Wrestling, and Pangration Athlima that hosted on that occasion its official World Championship. Celtic Wrestling with which FILA has signed a collaboration agreement was also reprensented by Mr. Guy Jaouen.
Only 8 countries participated in the frist World Wrestling Games and 12 in the second edition that took place in Antalya (TUR) in 2006 and 2007. FILA can be proud of this increase and be confident that the next Games will be a huge success. The 2009 edition will take place in Siauliai (LTU) from 11-14 September and FILA counts on a record participation to make this competition a major event that wrestling lovers around the world should miss on no account.
