Thread: The Ultimate Fighter 8 Discussion

Default The Ultimate Fighter 8 Discussion

I didn't see any other threads on TUF 8, and since the first episode just aired, I thought I'd start one.

A few comments on the first episode:

    1. I am sure that the video was edited in a specific manner, but I was not impressed (as GSP would say) by Guida's handling of the weight situation. I must have sucked for him not to make weight, but to make fun of Gabe Ruedigger as well as some of the other statements he made wasn't so classy.

    2. Mikey Stewart, who stepped in as Guida's replacement, looked really familiar. Then I realized that he used to train at the NYAC when I was there and he actually showed me a bunch of submissions... too bad he got KTFO by Krystof Soszynski.

    3. I thought the Phillipe Nover fainting incident was kind of pointless to include, but I guess it helped build drama. I thought Nover's fight with Joe Duarte was the best fight shown tonight. Lots of action, and Nover hits pretty hard.

    4. I have a new crush, and his name is "Junie" Allen Browning. Cocky and bleached blond... what a great combo. I didn't really care for the fact that he was psyched for the free alcohol in the house though. I did feel a bit bad for his opponent, since it seemed like Mir, Dana, and Nog were all screaming for Junie and no one seemed to be giving Aguilar any direction. But whatever, Jose likened himself to Hitler so I'm sure he didn't make too many friends with that statement.

    5. I was bummed that Rashad Evan's brother didn't make it into the house.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to seeing Bader fight next week. I'm also looking forward to later in the season when we get to see Anderson Silva since he is on Nog's coaching staff. I am sure the Spider will have some awesome technique to show.

I doubt they will show much of Anderson teaching fighting technique. Perhaps they will show him back at the house showing his beer bong technique.

I guess Joe Duarte wasn't the "Next Anderson Silva" then.

Browning's line about Aguilar having a better shot at getting him pregnant than beating him was pretty funny.

Jason Guida, and Lance Evans don't got it like their brothers do.

I'll have a recap up sometime this morning, and it will be somewhere else, and formatted differently.

Maybe Phillipe is the next Anderson Silva? His Muay Thai looked pretty sick. But as I mentioned elsewhere, Dana is known to exaggerate (ie all of his "important announcements") so I am sure that he is exaggerating about the talent of one of the TUF guys.

That line about Jose having a better chance at getting Junie pregnant was def another reason for my new crush... the boy has a sense of humor!

Comparing yourself to Hitler is pretty shocking - but of course, we have a member here who was named "Adolf" by his parents in 1951

Guida also looked stupid for saying "give me $500 I'll fight Chuck Liddell" and then he doesn't even manage to make weight - others knew coming in they had to be able to make weight in that house. Like he said, he'll have to get a real job now.

I only watched half of it, but they constantly referred to Nogeira as their heavyweight champ
"I don?t give a f_ck about money, bro. Believe me when I tell you that." Dana White

    Love the blog entry.

For the fight of the night prize, why is it a half-eaten bag of M&M's? Did Jason Guida eat the other half? (Sorry, I had to say it).
