i think danzig will beat the hamburger smell off guida tonight. he seems like he has too smooth of a game for guida. as long as he doesn't get caught with a wild punch. but danzig has taken punches from much larger guys.

This will be Danzigs biggest win thus far in his career. He was overmatched against Sakurai and lost a close fight to French. He was pretty impressive against Bocek but Bocek is not exactly the cream of the lw divison. Guida has beat top guys in Thomson and Aurelio and many thought he should have won against Griffin and Thomas. Either way a win for either vaults them back into contention in the weight class. Who do you see the winner facing next? |

Seems to me that Danzig is on a faster (harder) track than many of the other TUF guys - perhaps because he's older and more experienced. I can't imagine, for instance, seeing Nate Diaz getting a fight like this. PJ - you're asking about who's in line for a title shot and that's a tough one. A lot of good guys but few are believed to be as good as BJ. Although the UFC doesn't have many of the ranked 155/160 guys, they still have so many good guys. Sherk, Florian, Franca and Stevenson who have had title shots, Maynard, Griffin, Edgar & Guida who haven't (and TUF guys)

I did not necessarily mean who was in line for a tite shot just who they would fight next as it would be another step up. I agree though that Danzig is on a faster line to the title than Diaz because of his age. Diaz is only 23 and has a lot of room to grow, while I am sure Danzig will improve he is closer to his peak and they might as well push him now.

If Griffin wins, give him a title shot. I think Edgar should be considered too (matches up well and I think he could do well). If you are going to have all the top guys enter a tournament type situation to get a title shot, you'll have no obvious contenders left.

Metsfan I would like that scenario if Florian gets the next title shot. Give Griffin the winner of this fight it would make sense since many thought he did not really beat Guida. I would like to hold off on the Maynard vs. Diaz fight as they are both rising contenders and already fought on the show.
