![]() ![]() | Well put. His manager is supposed to negotiate on his behalf with the UFC, not supposed to tel him to shut up and support them. There's a reason you don't see the big name NBA/NHL/NFL managers representing fighters, if you don't use someone who's really on the UFC's side, you're SOL as you watch them fight to maintain their status as a monopoly.

Are you guys serious? He took the death of a man and politicized it. He used Evan tanner's death to bitch about his pay. If he wants to publicly bitch about his pay, fine. I think it's really dumb, especially when you're War Machine and not Chuck Liddell, but go ahead. But don't use the death of a man as your soap box. From everything we know about Tanner, it certainly doesn't seem like what he would want. It's fine if you want to be dumb and bitch about your pay, but when you take this route, you are disrespecting the dead, and not only that, but the very recently dead. He made these comments within like a day or two of Tanner's reported death. Messed up.

Claudale, I made no point about the money comments. Tanner chose to be a pro fighter. He signed the contract and he accepted whatever money he was paid. I don't have any reason to feel sorry for him. Quite to the contrary, I think Tanner got to do something most of us just dream of doing. Machine (I assume his first name is War, thus I will refer to him by his last name) chose to pick a horrible time to rib the UFC and to tie it in with his speculation about the Tanner death. Although I can see his point of thinking Tanner may be on a suicide mission, one must have a little tact as well. If you are employed by the UFC and you aren't even a really good fighter, I would think that talking smack about them during your speculitive blog about Tanners death may be very dumb on your behalf. If he wants to say the UFC doesn't pay well, perhaps he should take up amature wrestling like the rest of us on this board did and do it for free. I bet he'd change his tune real quick.

Claudale, Joe Silva is the UFc match maker, he isn't Machine's manager.

Sounds like I was wrong about Silva's roll. VAK, I don't think the UFC reacted negatively because WM disturbed their mourning; I think they figure he doesn't mean that much to them and (as Pimach suggested), they aren't going to use anyone who will publicly complain about fighter pay.

Adolf - no pro athlete should be paid since people play those sports for free, right? Why are we comparing MMA (where fans pay 100s of millions and owners have gained more than a billion in value) to wrestling, where fans pay very little to watch it and no one has really cashed out? That's like asking why the WNBA doesn't may as much as the NBA

Claudale, let me ask you this. If you have a complany, CL Accounting LLC, and one of your employees goes around bad mouthing the company that is putting food on his table, what would you do to this employee? The NBA, NFL, MLB all have clauses in their players contracts that they are not allowed to make disparaging remarks about the league, their team, officials, etc, or they will at the very least be fined, suspended, or both. Now in the UFC you can't fine anyone, no one has any money. If you suspend them, you may as well just do tham a favor and let them go. That's what the UFc does a lot of the time, they let people go and those people can make money else where. Would you prefer that they suspend the person and on top of that, fine them?

![]() ![]() | If you honestly think the UFC reacted this way because he made untactful comments, I'll believe you. The official story is they dumped him because he declined a fight (I agree, he shouldn't have) but I believe what Pimach said, "Who are you to question what we pay people? Anyone who doesn't praise us and appreciate the exposure we give them, is gone. We're a monopoly, we don't need any one fighter"
