Star Tito Ortiz Has Become America's Newest Cartoon

I love it when Tito Ortiz shoots his mouth off about something.

    Why?

Because I know that at the end of the day, it only makes him look worse, each and every time that he does it (I know, I know?I didn't think that it was possible for him to look worse either).

Actually, what I don?t like is how he manages to manipulate the media and the fans for his own personal gain.

Did you know that his team name for the upcoming TUF season isn?t even Team Ortiz? It?s Team Punishment.

    How?s that for shameless self-promotion ?

Even just by my writing this article (and by you reading it), we are all serving up as slaves to Tito?s grand marketing scheme, giving him acknowledgement and publicity that he definitely does not deserve.

It doesn?t even matter that the words ?classy? or ?sportsmanlike? are not likely to ever enter into the minds of MMA fans when they hear Tito?s name or news of something controversial that he may have just said.

It only just further serves Tito?s own fabricated ?Bad Boy? image and believe me?he?s loving every minute of it.

Tito Ortiz is like a cartoon character of himself at this point in his career, void of any genuine personality or endearing character traits whatsoever.

This past weekend, for example, at UFC 109 proved exactly that. Ortiz just couldn?t wait to kick a man while he was down (which is still probably a step up from chastising a homeless man for not having a job ).*

Mark ?The Hammer? Coleman, a respected UFC Hall of Fame athlete, had just suffered what had to have been one of his most disappointing and depressing losses of all time. I can?t even begin to imagine what must have been going through Coleman?s mind immediately following the loss to Couture, given the huge amount of pressure that he had no doubt put onto himself to win.

According to Ortiz, he yelled out ?payback?s a motherf****r? in Coleman?s direction, apparently in response to some personal attacks made by Coleman who allegedly spoke unfavourably about Ortiz?s wife, Jenna Jameson, a world renowned pornographic movie star who had sex on film for money (a lot of both, by the way).

Gee Tito, if you?re going to be so sensitive about your wife?s ?former? occupation, then maybe you shouldn?t have married a prostitute .

Then again, ?Porn Star? looks so much more glamorous and professional on a business card than ?Prostitute? does.

So what was Coleman?s response to Tito?

Apparently, he called Tito a ?douche bag .?

Personally, I would have gone with ?pathetic .?

In either case, I?m pretty certain he?s been called worse.

    [INSERT STICKS AND STONES HERE]

    But wait!

Tito is an MMA legend. Why on earth does he continuously prompt such hostility from the fans?

Well, I can hardly run down the entire history, so how about the last couple?

When asked about his last fight against Forrest Griffin, Ortiz had this to say:

    ?I don't remember the fight.

Two weeks before the fight, I was wrestling with one of my partners, and we collided heads. I fractured my orbital bone. I don't remember the weigh-ins. I don't remember the fight. All I remember was the beginning of the third round. I remember thinking in my head, 'Don't get taken down, and don't get knocked down, and you win the fight.' That's all I remember. I don't remember the press conference afterward. I don't remember any of it at all. I had a concussion from the fractured orbital bone.

I don't remember driving down to Vegas. I don't remember the weigh-ins. I don't remember cutting weight. I guess one of my trainers, he was like, 'Yeah, I walked in, and you had your plastics on. You had your headgear on, and you were just humming.' I don't remember any of it."

    Unbelievably lame excuses, anyone?!

Personally, I?ve had plenty of concussions and these statements are ridiculous at best.

Oh wait, it gets better...just ask Chuck Liddell.

Nothing like exposing another man?s personal problems in the media (anyone who has ever had a friend or family member battling some form of alcohol or drug addiction can empathize here):

?Now that I've seen him, he looks in great shape. His sense of awareness is there, more than ever. Maybe he'll re-define himself. Look at Randy [Couture]. He's 46 and still competing. Look at [Mark] Coleman. He's still competing. I think Chuck shouldn't have a problem at all competing.

I think [Liddell] looked at his last losses, the mistakes that he did, and maybe he didn't get ready for the fight as he should have.

Thank God that [UFC president] Dana [White] gave [Liddell] an intervention and he's sober now. He's been sober since November, and he looks like a different person. It's awesome. I'm proud of him?really proud of him. A lot of people can't do that. I kind of went through that myself, but I looked in the mirror and I realized that wasn't the life I wanted to lead.

I'm proud he's found sobriety. A lot of fighters, and a lot of people in general, don't do that. They fall off the face of the earth, and sometimes they'll find them in a hotel, dead, or behind a wheel, dead. Thank God Chuck isn't one of those guys. Thank God he found sobriety, and I'm proud of him?very proud of him."

    [STANDING OVATION]

I think Tito Ortiz just won himself the ?Humanitarian of the Year? Award with that little speech.

Wow! *Those statements are indicative of some of the nastiest mind games ever played outside of the Octagon.

Let?s assume that Liddell did in fact have a drinking problem (and I?m certainly not suggesting that he did, simply because Tito said so). What right does Tito Ortiz have to announce Chuck?s supposed issue to the world?

    Quick answer: none!

    Proud of Liddell?!

    What a load of crap!!

Tito was out to publicly humiliate Liddell, and nothing more!

Even Liddell was surprised that Tito would sink that low.

Way to prove Mark Coleman wrong, Tito. You are a class act all the way buddy!

All hail, America?s newest cartoon...Captain Douche Bag!

For the record, it's a cocaine and HGB problem that Chuck Lidell has. The drinking doesn't appear to be much of a problem what so ever.

That was a new low for Tito, talking smack to an old man on the verge of retirement, right after he lost.

I agree. What's the issue, his woman is a whore and it wasn't Coleman that said it, it was his manager. Ortiz has lost a fan.

    Pimach what did Coleman do?

Jenna is a whore, that is not in question. But with that said, Coleman didn't say anything about her, his manager did.

So she can be a whore and have it filmed for everyone to see, but Coleman's manager can't say it so? Big man i respect you and what you stand for, but I need some clarification on what the issue is with Coleman.

Coleman allowed that to happen by letting his Manager to do his crap talking and if he didnt he should have said so. Ive heard from various sources that Tito is a scumbag but families should be exempt from the trash talking, otherwise people will be taking shots at peoples wives, kids, moms, grandmas, etc.

Very well. On another note, can one assume that in a match up between the Huntington Beach Bad Boy and the Hammer, you'll be backing Team Ortiz/Jenna?

After watching Colemans fight with Couture, I think the safe bet is with Tito or anyone else for that matter.

Ive always liked Coleman but I think its time for the Hammer to hang up the gloves.
