Default Japanese superstar Takanori Gomi signs with UFC

What's with these fighters wanting to be enslaved by the evil-doers at ZUFFA?

I hope gomi takes his training seriously. He needs to come to america and train with a good camp full time.

Seriously, though, I too hope he can regain form. The Gomi we've seen recently is a mid-level fighter in the UFC at best.

Was going to say had this happened three years ago I would have been very, very excited.

    Now, simply intrigued.

I too am intrigued but not excited. Every time i hear about gomi stopping by a camp in the states the reports that he is fat and out of shape. He kind of reminds of bj penn prior to this year. Super talented, has had great success but trains in his own small circle with people that dont push him.

If he can regain the fire he has the physical tools and experience to be a serious threat.

A much needed big name in the 155 pound division.

I'd like to see the UFC cherry pick a few more guys to challenge the dominant current champs. Although I'm not sold on Shields having much of a chance at GSP, it would be a great move to sign him because many of the fans are and it would likely be huge, (probably bigger than Couture/Lidell IV in Germany would have been). While they're at it, they may as well go after Claudale's boy, (forget his name but from Kensington, PA 155 pounder). Light heavy weight is pretty set for now, as is heavyweight, so if they go out and get a sacrificial lamb for Anderson, (no I don't want to see him maim or kill GSP) that would really help out with lining up a series of big selling pay per views. Zuffa make it happen.
    Lets go Brent!

He is worth signing cause the draw of Japan, but he is no threat to the Top 5 UFC light weights (that is if he can even make 155). He might be fighting at WW? He has not been at 155 for a while. He was fighting at the catch wieght of 160 wasn't he? I, like many, am intrigued, nothing more yet.
