Please keep the talk here, and avoid any threads with spoilers. As expected Madsen got his takedowns. Schaub showed some flawed takedown technique but his mistakes are easily correctable. For example push the head down and away as opposed to wrapping over the top half attemptng a guillotine. You could also tell that schaub was tentative in pullin the trigger as he was concerned with madsens wrestling. That being sad when he did pull the trigger he made his punches count. Great power displayed by schaub.

Some real nice takedowns by Madsen the first round. I thought it was a decent fight. The rest of the show is getting worse and worse. It is embarrassing to look forward to the show and then have to sit the drama of Kimbo might be able to fight and Rampage and Rashad getting into more smack talk. Four fights next week and I am going to miss it. I bet Kimbo does not get back into the ring. I would also like to see Marcus v. Schoonover. |

He still wasn't impressive - although Madsen didn't mount any GNP, he took him down when he wasn't gassed. and the constant fence grabbing is a blatant rule violation. I wish the UFC didn't jam the rest of the fights in a single episode. I know they like to build momentum going into the finals, but that is when the show is at its best. I'd rather them combine some of the first round fights and spread out the rest - no need for more than 2 fights in a show.

Dana didn't complain about that fight being boring (it was) and I'm going to guess that VAK won't either even though Schaub said his plan was basically to wait until Madsen gased, then 60% into the fight, he through his first good set of punches.

Didn't see the fight. Was going to catch a replay, but heard it was boring.

great strategy and go ahead and give away points for fence grabbing, the fight wasn't going to a decision anyways. I can't wait for the finale. Should be another great night of fights.

they should stay away from heavyweights for a while and have guys fight to get into the house again - better 1st round fights when they do that and in 3 cases, big names were upset in the opening round and those guys went to the finals (Wilks, Amir and Nover)

Ok, I finally broke down and watch the fight. This fight was rather boring. It looked like Madsen was in position to give some powerful slams on his TD's, but rarely did, and Schaub seemed to come down somewhat gently, given the height he was lifted to. However, once he was down, Madsen did next to nothing. Further, I find it ridiculous that Schaub wasn't deducted points for grabbing the fense. Good lord, he must have been warned 10 times. Overall, a rather bad fight, with some interesting insights into what the future holds for both guys. As a Matt Hughes fighter, Madsen might get a UFC fight or two, but eventually he'll be relegated to the minors unless he adds layers to his game. Schaub has some potential, but needs a lot of seasoning.

Zapp I've actually heard one MMA insider claim that Schaub will surpass Carwin and make a run at the UFc title. Your thoughts?
