I am still waiting for Thacker to get his second shot with the ufc. Lets not forget that he was unfairly voted off the show, and was forced to deal with his ufc jitters in front of millions while the other cast members had a chance to overcome the nerves in front of 20-30 people.

Could it be that he comes back in and they fight again?
Good question, hadn't thought of that. Must be a rematch or something!

The implies that Kimbo's prominence and inclusion in future UFC events is not a pure ratings grab. That destroyed 90% of the article's credibility. Then he pointed out that Kimbo is "Only on TUF and not headlining a PPV", using War Machine and Kaplan as examples of middling fighters who got additional UFC fights. He conveniently ignores how this entire season has been marketed and advertised around Kimbo. It's actually very similar to Elite's strategy, although to the UFC's credit they aren't using the same hyperbole to prop up the Sliceman. The author also ignores the obvious issue that Kimbo will be marketed around for any upcoming UFC events as well. Again, nothing inherently wrong with this strategy, but gimme a break on the holier than thou stuff. JB is channeling Gary Shaw, albeit with a little more common sense.

Agree Dingo - obviously Dana was jealous that they signed Gannon first and got nothing out of it (even though Gannon almost lost his job for a generous $3g payday and time spent in the hospital) and Elite signed Kimbo and it resulted in the most watched fight in UFC history. Dana has an unsatiable need for praise, it kills him when anyone else gets any credit for anything.

Dana is copying Elite and TUF isn't making Kimbo take a harder road; they are paying him to hype the show and then they will use him in PPV events. Kimbo could make 6 digits per fight in Japan or in Strikeforce, not trying to prove a disrespectful Dana wrong.

Remember, after Kimbo beat James Thompson, that, according to Dana, set MMA back and undid all the great things Dana did for the sport. Since then, he lost in 14 seconds to a guy Dana said wasn't good enough to be in the UFC who didn't win TUF and then gets stopped last night. We don't know what else happens in this show, but I wouldn't say he's proven much of anything since Dana said he sucks and couldn't beat ANYONE in the UFC

Something tells me Kimbo fights again on the show, and earns his spot on the finale.

Otherwise, they need to put Gerald Harris on that same finale. Nobody has proven more since the TUF show.

With the teaser they aired it seems clear that Kimbo gets another shot. Marketing wise this doesn't make sense. Even if they match him against a pansy he can beat, he will have to fight again and it is clear that he will never be a top level fighter.

Why not match him against a pansy in the TUF finale? Then with a win you can still milk one or two PPV out of him, before his credibility is completely shot. Maybe he can get a job as the roving reporter for UFC events.

Amen on getting Gerald in the UFC!

I don't think he has to win to remain a viable draw. He just has to be matched up with people who will bang with him standing.

Again, marketing a show that's supposed to introduce prospects around Kimbo is far different then centering your entire promotion arond the notion that Kimbo is a top tier fighter. I know people want to criticize everything Dana does, but you guys sure are anxious to leave behind common sense at any provocation just to attack him.

I don't think any of us are criticizing what Dana does, instead pointing out his reaction to Kimbo as being a disgrace to the sport when Elite used him.

Kimbo has lost 2 strait and Dana says he'll be in the UFC - I thought he was supposed to win TUF to get in, right? I think we had this conversation when Dana first made that comment.

After he had beating James Thomspon (causing Dana to blow a gasket), he had won a few in a row including one over a UFC vet (Tank) and James had just beaten a UFC hall of famer (Frye)

I have nothing against Kimbo and Dana's decision is about dollars and cents; but so hypocritical from how he acted when someone else did the same thing. His words were scathing.
