Exactly, its a win over a big name and keeps him on the winning track which ultimately will be much more effective in getting him back in title contention than just calling out gsp.

Lets not forget though that claudale also wanted diego sanchez to ask for his title shot after beating florian.

And a dozen UFC fights later, he's finally starting to ask for a title shot, something Forrest asked for years ago.

Koscheck has already fought GSP and Alves, so that's totally different than TUF guys like Bisping and (to a lesser extent) Diaz who want to be the favorite in dozens of UFC fights without fighting the champ against guys who otherwise would not be there. "Jobbers"

I just thought of something. Maybe Hughes thinks he only has one or two fights left, so why waste it on Kos. If he beats Alves he may go straight to GSP. Dana does owe him for always bailing him out when the UFC needed it. Don't know if that is what is going on, but something to think about. I also don't think he could beat any of those three now, but in his heyday.........

Alves is fighting Paulo Thiago in december so unless hughes planning on waiting until the spring to fight again he will not be fighting alves.
