Star Quinton "Rampage" Jackson Quits The UFC

After many triumphs and tragedies, MMA Legend Quinton "Rampage" Jackson has announced his retirement from the UFC.

This comes out of the blue as many were expecting the former UFC champ to return to the octagon after wrapping up filming A-Team.

Rampage Jackson quits the fight game and UFC citing problems such as being rushed into fights, injuries, and lies from UFC President Dana White.

Now that Rampage Jackson has quit the UFC, he's looking forward to pursue additional acting jobs. You can find Rampage Jackson's official statement on Hit The Ropes.

    Wow - broke a story I didn't know.

I expect he'll be back; he has no where else to go and the UFC built a TUF season around him. I'd love more details.

Tells what a great guy Dana is. Understanding, not pushy:

Claudale please don't tell me that you're going to take at face value what a guy says that in the same release threatens to beat up his fans that may have a problem with him. Some times I don't know to take you serious or if you're just trolling me.

That part was obviously a joke. I do think Dana is pushy and often doesn't listen to fighter concerns. It's about what is best for the UFC - we've heard many guys make similar comments.

I think the UFC has done more for Rampage then vice versa. Before the UFC, no one outside the hardcore fans even knew who Rampage was. It's because of the UFC--the big PPV fights, the marketing, The Ultimate Fighter shows, the video game--that he's even able to have an "acting career". Not to mention the UFC was there trying to bail Rampage's ass out when he went AWOL after the Forrest fight

    • He acts as if Dana made him fight every 2 months with no breaks in between.
    • He had 4 months after chuck to prepare for hendo
    • And no pride belt? PRIDE DIED THATS WHY.
    • He had almost an entire year before he had to fight forrest.
    • Arrested on serious charges after the fight with forrest, and Dana stood by his side and bailed him out.
    • Had 5 months until he had to fight Wand again.
    • Then he's given basically a free shot at the title with a fight with Jardine (Everyone knew Jardine would lose)
    • And getting paid? All the sponserships and endorsments + bonuses handed out make plenty money
    • A super fight between him and rashad probably would have netted way more money than that movie.
"I'm gonna miss all my loyal fans but hopefully they'll follow me to my new career & I will gain more loyal fans along the way. & all you hater fans out there can kiss my big black hairy ass! & anybody that don't like what I just said can come try to kick my ass!"

Challenging your fans to fight you... real classy

Pride fans (people in other parts of the world) knew who he was. If the UFC didn't buy Pride, some billionaire (like Cuban or Trump) might have

He's allowed to have an acting career - remember, the UFC doesn't pay him when he is not in the ring, so why not.

That was nice when they bailed him out, but of course that was around the same time that they cut a TUF finalist - so I'm sure it has more to do with business than deep concerns for every fighter.

He was good enough to be champ; the UFC benefited too.

they would have helped him after Pride if they bid against the WFA (driven up his salary) instead of just picking up their pieces afterwards.

Anyways, I expect he'll be back in a few years (if this Memphis show can't be saved).
