Thread: UFC 103 (spoilers)

    Default UFC 103 (spoilers)

Hermes Franca looked terrible but it was still impressive that griffin was able to finish him. Relentless gnp once he had franca hurt.

Great to see Koscheck get back on track, i still would like to see him win a fight where he is using his wrestling and a strong top game.

Kampman was foolish for not trying harder to get it to the ground but it didnt look like he had very good takedowns anyway.

Hermes looked like a pile of crap. All bullshit aside, I dropped a floater in one of the numerous guest bathrooms, and it looked just like a KO'd Franca. To make matters worse, I had 4 blueberry muffins last night and there were chunks of purple in it closely resembling that shower cap that Franca was wearing. Spittin image of the Brazilian. True story.

I was watching the Mayweather/Marquez mismatch as well, so I didn't have all of my attention on either card, plus i was entertaining and hosting my party. My blueberry muffins were a hit BTW

    Lets see:

Victor Belfort looked like his old self in terms of explosiveness. Rich just got bombed right out the gate. I'd like to see what The Phenom can do at 185. Possible opponents that I'd like to see him against include Maia and Bisping. By then we should know who's getting a shot at the strap, (Hendo, Marquart, Belfort).

Semtex looked awesome. Does he have a ground game? More than anything, I think he exposed Kampmann as opposed to derail his run. The stop was good too IMO. Doesn't matter if you're standing or not, if your head keeps getting knocked around like the speed bag, the ref has to consider your safety and get you out of there. Semtex vs Rumble Johnson, (black on black crime) I wouldn't mind seeing that one.

CroCop quit. I don't believe he couldn't see, I believe his head was in pain and didn't want that big heavyweight in there kneeing him any more. Give him a shot at Randy and then put them both out to pasture. Neither one can hang with the big boys any longer. Jr Dos Santos is a confide star. He needs 2 more wins and then it's heavyweight title shot time. I don't want to see him derail any of the other guys in line, so lets see him against a Mir, or a Gonzaga. I want to see him keep winning and have a legitimate shot at the title.

What I really wanted to see between Koscheck and Trigg is the wrestling aspect of a fight and that didn't happen. I thought Trigg would handle himself better on the feet, but he seemed more interested in discussing a grazing shot to the top of the head, than defending a huge right hand that put him on his ass. Another good stop, Trigg was just going to get hurt. I no longer want to see Kos/Hughes, that will turn ugly fast, lets see Koscheck vs Karo Parisian. That would be fire works IMO.

Adolf, those GIF's are all I needed.

    I just watched the fights.

Cro Cop is a disappointment. He doesn't do well against top strikers, needs instead guys who can't take him down. I always thought Cro Cop (and Chuck) were over-the-top arrogant, so I find this entertaining at the same time.

UFC might cut him again (Fedor the only reason they might not).

    Good time to rematch Nogeira.

Oh, and Escudero looked great - Cole Miller is a terrible matchup for a much shorter wrestler, so that win imo was a very good one.

The Phenom is back!!!! good win by Victor for his return, I was a bit worried about his not making weight and it will be intersting to see if he remains at 185 or hangs around at 205, either way I like him as another contender to AS.

Cro Cop, I cant say anything that hasnt been said already, I hate to see my favorites get beat, but he has to realize he cant hang no more, I think that head kick by Gonzaga ended it for him. I'd like to see Dos Santos either get the next shot after Carwin or fight the winner of Velasquez/Rothwell.

I thought Trigg would make a statement on his return to the Octagon and certainly didnt expect to see him beaten down like he was but thats the way things go.

LOL at the OBC for his comparison of the kid he dropped off at the pool and Franca. he had it right though.
Like Billy Jacks' soul attack, I'm one Injun you wont forget.

Also keep in mind that Cro Cop was losing badly to Overeem, so he's lost to the last 3 good stand up guys he's faced and he wouldn't fight Cain last fight.

So it seems the 3 best big wrestlers in the UFC would probably take him down and hurt him (Brock and Carwin being the other 2) and he'd probably lost to guys like Hardonk too.

He only does well against BJJ guys who can't take him down; I think the only top Hwts he'd beat are Mir and Nogeira

Trigg, Pimach, was a little weird. seems like he looked away when Koscheck dropped him; the punch before that grazed the back of his head. A lot like Serra - GSP and PJ doesn't count that as a loss for GSP, so, . . .
