If he's made millions from fighting then why was he bitching around? I wonder how much he was paid for his straight to 5 dollar bin at Walmart movie.
I believe for his last two fights with the UFC he made somewhere around 1.5 million total and if you add up all his previous fights I am show his total is in excess of 5 million. He was complaining because he thought he deserved more. There are athletes in every sport who are making millions but hold out for more.
That is something I haven't seen mentioned elsewhere and a very interesting point. Rather than offering him something positive (ie, more money, etc.), they could be offering to remove something negative (ie, the additional lawsuits). That equates to less hassle for him and less legal fees (and he may feel that he is going to lose those suits) - so that can serve as an incentive (or at least an added one).
I could see that as an alternative, because I really dont see them giving him any more cash

I would bet that Randy is actually a thousandaire rather than a millionaire

Thats crazy talk. We know he has made millions fighting, he has six extreme couture gyms as well part ownership of legends gym, sponsors and endorsement, plus he has movies, a best selling book, and who knows how much he makes from seminars, clinics and other public appearances

I thought of it a while ago, the only thing we know about the lawsuit is the UFC is seeking more than $10,000 in damages from Randy's comments. They could be claiming that he owes them $20m (not hard to come up with a big number when the business has more than $200m in revenue and he is their Hwt champ). That would be strong incentive to settle with the UFC (without that, I don't even see Randy playing nice - he burned his bridges on purpose).
Also, Cuban had been providing him legal support but Cuban appears to have a slower approach to MMA than he once had. And Cuban offered support to free Randy of that contract - he may not be helping him when it comes to things Randy said that were misleading (and things he may not have been free to discuss anyways under the terms of that contract).
Also, when Randy retired, he said he could fight in 9 months. That was 10-25-07, so he thought he would be free right around now

A few things bothered him (in his own words) and some of the stuff was petty, like he requested comp seats for family and friends and said Dana blew him off. He was also expecting another discretionary bonus after beating Gonzaga and he said that Dana lied to him by saying only Chuck had been paid more.
Although he says he was bothered that the UFC failed to sign Fedor, I think he was also bothered that they offered Fedor so much when he is one of the guys who built the UFC and fought their before Zuffa bought it.

It might be, but Im betting after taxes, leases, alimony, child support, mistresses, civil lawsuits, lawyers etc, hes no more a millionaire than CAP is an AA
He's easily a millionaire - how many millions might be in question, but at least a millionaire.
I agree with clmetal on the point that his anger with the UFC probably had more to do with fact that they offered Fedor more than him when Fedor hadn't done anything to help build the UFC brand to that point. Not necessarily a matter of a spoiled athlete just wanting more & more as in some cases but more a matter of comparing one number vs the other in terms of respect. Then those other little things were thrown out as further examples of the lack of respect. His pride was injured.
In any case, I don't think he is hurting for money by any stretch of the imagination. He may, however, be finding that the legal issues are not going as he had hoped and is looking to keep them from dragging on and on.

I dont even think its wrong for athletes to ask for more money. In the NFL, for example, the prices are basically set for each position. So if you are the consistently performing in the top three at your position but there are ten running backs making more money then its understandable that you want more money even if you are already making five million a year. Football like mma has a short shelf life so you need to cash in when you can especially since you can be cut at any time.
