    Default Fun Picks - Prospects

I thought it would be fun to run off 3 up and comers that have not made noise yet. I am going to leave Lawal off the list since he has already made rather unusual noise in just 3 fights. I do believe he is going to be a star in the 185-205 wt class. I want the names you may (most people) not know today, but will...

    These are my current prospects:

    1. Ricardo Romero - 205lb ROC champ who has a great combination of D-1 wrestling, BJJ (brown belt), and muay tai. He is undefeated (9-1), minus a DQ against Sandull who he had ko'd at the moment before he kneed him in the head while his oponents knee was already down.

    2. Fabricio Morango Camoes - Seasoned MMA/BJJ practitioner (black belt under Royler Gracie). He is a world class bjj grappler with effective striking. He had a rough start in mma years ago, but is on a 7 fight win streak. Very few fighters want to face him because he is too much of a risk without being a big name. Currently a Strikeforce journyman at 170. Could go down to 155 if need be.

    3. Jacob Volkmann - 3x D-1 All-American who has adapted to MMA very well. Mentally tough fighter. He is currently the reighing World Grappling champion at welterweight. He is another up and comer at 170 with top of the class wrestling ability (Hendricks, Askeren, and Koscheck). Undefeated at 9-0, with a large handful being cans. However, after hearing how he is handling Sherk and Larson in the room, I have little doubt he is going to be a force. 155 might be a better weight if he wants to challenge in the UFC.

    Ill try:

    1. Brendan Schaub: will be on this season of tuf so he will be known soon enough. Colorado golden gloves champ, former d1 football player at colorado u, a great athlete with great hands, also shane carwins main training partner.
    2. Cody Donovan- Undefeated lhw, a brown belt under nate marquardt.
    3. Robert Drysdale- abu dhabi world champion, one of the very best grapplers in the world. Looks like he is taking the transition to mma slowly but has some of the best mma connections in the business. Has one amateur fight up to this point.

Good picks. I know of Shaub and Drysdale. I believe you have talked up Shaub before. I was not familiar with Donavan. I will follow his progress.

I forgot about Chad. He is a brute!
I wonder what happens when or if both him and Benvindez become title contenders at the same time. They are both 135 pounders as well as work out partners. Could be like Fitch and Kos.

Donovan is not as physically gifted as schaub but he is well rounded, a very hard worker and trains with a great camp. He should be in the ufc in a year and while he may not be a top contender he can make some noise.
