Thread: Thoughts on UFC 100

The only way i see Pierre winning is if he can take Silva down multiple times like with Alves and try some G&P or submissions. Silva is at his most dangerous on his feet of course. If GSP can take him down and maintain control he could win. Although I don't see Silva staying at middleweight too long even if Pierre moved up. There is no one left for Silva to fight at middleweight. What is he gonna do? Fight Pierre 5 times in a row. That's pretty much all he could do at middleweight with Pierre if he stayed.

Silva will get his first loss in light-heavyweight. The light-heavyweight division is without a doubt the most stacked of all. Almost every fighter there is a former champ. I see Silva getting a knockout loss in light-heavyweight. I don't care what you say. Light-heavyweight is just impossible to go undefeated through. I wanna see Silva vs. Machida. Now that would be a great fight.

P-J is officially a gay man when it comes to GSP.

claudale please do not be upset with the fact that all of my opinions and predictions of gsp have come true. Too many of you guys let your dislike of him get in the way of properly evaluating and predicting his fights.

Gsp is not even in my top five favorite fighters but i enjoy watching him and i admire his skillset and work ethic.

I picked him to win the fight, PJ. I am on a fantasy team, so my picks are documented. I had Dan winning a decision, Lesnar winning R1 was GNP and GSP winning by GNP in the 2nd or 3rd.

I've never been a fan of his, but I've always thought he was very good and talked about his great wrestling back when everyone else (including Hughes and Koscheck) had little respect for it.

I saw him fight Hughes the first time (live, was in AC) and I was worried about that fight (as a Hughes fan) and was very relieved he pulled out the win.

But with most GSP fans, yourself included, we can't say anything but praise (the kind that North Koreans have for Kim Jong Il)

Please, gsp has not had much to criticize lately.

As much as i appreciated his talent i was concerned about his mental toughness. I doubted him a bit after the serra fight but he has left no room for doubt since. He has gotten better each fight and has run through the best guys in his division.

I am not going to critique him for not finishing his opponents or fighting a bar room brawl put your head down and swing for the fences style that you love so much. I have a different philosophy on this as we have discussed in the past whether it be machida, gsp, bisping or anyone else.

You prefer watching guys like phil baroni or james thompson i prefer watching guys who use strategy and tactic that play to their strengths and exploit their opponents weaknesses.

I'd like to see GSP take risks to go for a finish.

I think 5 rounders like this are a bit of a buzz kill.

It's hard for UFC 100 to live up to the hype and I think it did mainly because, like it or not, of Henderson's diving shot to a sleeping Bisping. That ranks imo as one of the all-time greatest MMA clips (Rampage slamming Arona is #1. I also like Fedor being slammed by Randleman and Mir breaking Tim's arm).

If Dan-Bisping was like Bisping-Leben, UFC 100 might have come across as boring (the Fitch fight was boring, GSP dominated for 5 rounds without finishing, that's boring)

and it wasn't much of a risk here. Alves is a purple belt who GSP had no problem taking down.

Funny thing is all the GSP fans used to bitch like crazy when Hughes went to decisions (LNP comments) but now GSP is an artist for holding opponents down.

He couldnt hold alves down let alone go for a sub. Mo lawal was on sherdog radio before the fight talking about how every time he talk alves down he would get right back up.

You dont just take a risk to take a risk. He took alves back several times, almost had full mount once but could not hold the position.

Id defintley agree that gsp has been more conservative lately but i had to credit alves for being so hard to control on the ground.
