Clear out the MW division? GSP? Seriously? Even if you think he would beat Anderson Silva (he wouldn't), how would he beat Dan Henderson? At MW, GSP is going to have a reach disadvantage, something that he uses to make his wrestling so effective. That's just crazy talk.

Wait so gsp taking no damage from the most dangerous striking in the divison is some how an indication that he would get dominated by silva? Going into the fight everyone was talking abotu how much power alves had and how if gsp stood he would get knocked out, and that alves takedown defense was going to give him problems. Alves is the same guy that used and abused matt hughes and shut down national champ wreslter josh koscheck. GSP puts up ten takedowns on the dude and complete takes him out of his gameplan and this now shows he cant beat silva?

if anything this showed that gsp is disciplined and crafty enough on his feet to avoid danger and has the incredible wrestling ability to take the fight to the ground. Also I cant see silva powering his wayback to his feet over and over the way alves did.

I had no idea that Alves would be at a 6 inch reach disadvantage. Bad research on my part, but still, I predicted a dominating GSP finish. Alves shrugged off more then one takedown attempt, so would a bigger, stronger Anderson. Either way, normally people have to come into GSP's range if they want to hurt him. This is the reverse. GSP will have to come within range of the Spider if he wants to be able to take him down, and that will end with GSP's features ending up in different locations.

Zapp do you see GSP standing up to the Spider and taking his beating like a man, or do you see a tap to strikes, (if he's conscious) and more asking the referee to save him? I could see it training very ugly and GSP having to make the decision of protecting his future by asking the referee to get the spider off of him.

Adolf my comments were directed towards zapps initial comments.

Alves is known for his takedown defense as seen in his destructions of matt hughes and josh koscheck. Silva is not known for his takedown for his takedown defense as seen in his fights against travis lutter who was so tired he crawled on his knees and took down silva.

Silvas size would play a factor if they got in the clinch or if he was able to keep him away with his reach or keep him from doing any damage from the top. His size would not be a factor at all in terms of takedown defense.

I see GSP suffering an "injury" in training camp, and the fight never happening, if GSP is smart. Or I see him telling Dana White (in private) to NEVER give him the fight, but he's going to publicly demand it as a PR show.

I could definitely see how after watching the cote and leites fights that gsp would not be interested in that fight. After falling asleep several times while watching those fights gsp may realize that he doesnt need to fight a boring fight where the opponent is disinterested in fighting.
