Im disappointed in this match up, I would rather see Lesnar v. Gonzaga
Kongo lost a previous fight to Herring, who did absolutely zero against Lesnar, I dont see why this was put together. I like Kongo but in the scheme of things it makes no sense
I think Dana is giving Lesnar good matchups as he works on his submission game. I think Lesnar will make him down fairly easily and win this. But I'm a little surprised Knogo is being sacrificed, he would be a champ if he had better takedown defense.

I think Adolf hit the nail on the head here, Pimach. What he said is why it makes sense the grand scheme of things. Kongo has become a 'legit' heavyweight in the UFC to many fans based on recent performances, and he is someone that Lesnar should be able to handle relatively easily. Gives Lesnar what the general public views as a very good opponent thereby generating interest and giving him another legit win as they continue to build him toward a title shot.

This should have been Lesnar first fight, Lesnar has an easy win ahead of him. The only HW that can take Lesnar are Nog,Mir,Werdum, and possibly Gonzaga.

I understand about Kongho being legit to some of the casual fans, but in this game you should be moving forward not backwards, now he has beaten a vet like Herring but then has to fight a dude that Herring beat decisively in his previous fight? thats like telling Kenflo "hey you beat Huerta so now you gotta fight Clay Guida"
They are trying to build Lesnar. They would not want to put him against another submission fighter like Gonzaga or Werdum. Kongo is a recognizable fighter so they can make it a co main event/headliner type of fight and it will be another notch for Lesnar. Unfortunately the heavyweight division in the UFC is so thin right now that they have to sacrifice Kongo in order to build Lesnar.
Bu they can do that by giving him Gonzaga, who although lost two fights to very legit fighters is also well known. I believe that Lesnar would destroy Gonzaga thereby making him even more of a monster than he already is, even if it went ot the ground, I see Lesnar pounding him out before anything happened.

Lesnar is a different animal than KenFlo though. Like PJ said, it's not as much a matter of moving him 'up the ladder' as it is to build him a resume while not giving him cans - so they can make him main event / co-main event without it appearing to be a pushover fight. Then, they can give him a title shot once the Nog/Mir fight is done, and he'll have more than one legit knotch on his belt. Brock might be able to take Gonzaga out on the feet and would outwrestle him, but at this point I think Gonzaga's ground/submission game is still too much of a risk for them to take.
