    Star UFC 100 Vs. Affliction:Trilogy

There was a time when speculation told us that Affliction was considering putting their third ,and possibly final show, up against UFC 100.

Whether there was any truth to that speculation is now irrelevant.

UFC 100 will go down on July 11 while Affliction: Trilogy will happen August 1. And for the record, their third fight card will not be their last.

So, while the UFC 100 vs. Affliction: Trilogy is not a battle of head-to-head PPV’s, it is a segue into which card is more stacked. While UFC 100 appears the apparent answer, let’s do it up MMA style and pit one fight against the other.

    Main Event

Brock Lesnar-Frank Mir vs. Fedor Emelianenko-Josh Barnett

While a lot of MMA fans would love to see the winners of these two fights clash, that won't happen. These four fighters are the top four ranked divisional heavyweights in all of MMA—which makes both fights equally interesting.

Lesnar looks to exact revenge upon Mir, who holds the only win over Lesnar in his short career.

Whoever emerges will be known as the undisputed UFC heavyweight champion. As for the other fight, it’s an epic fight between two friends that is years in the making, with the winner most likely considered the top heavyweight in the sport today.

    Co-Main Event

George St. Pierre-Alves vs. Renato Sobral-Gegard Mousasi

In another tough battle, we have a welterweight title fight going up against an exciting light heavyweight fight. St. Pierre is looking to defend his belt for the third time against an opponent in Alves who many consider his toughest test to date.

With a win, St. Pierre could position himself into a super fight with Anderson Silva.

Sobral is sharp veteran who most consider a top 10 light heavyweight fighter.

Mousasi is a young phenomenon who many consider to be the best young fighter in all of MMA. This will be Mousasi’s first official fight as both light heavyweight and in the United States. A win for him would catapult him into the consciousness of all MMA fans.

Rest of the Card (that counts)

Michael Bisping-Dan Henderson vs. Vitor Belfort vs. Jorge Santiago

Jon Fitch vs. Paulo Thiago vs. Paul Buentello vs. Gilbert Yvel

Yoshihiro Akiyama-Alan Belcher vs. Paul Daley vs. Jay Hieron

Jon Jones vs. Jake O'Brien* vs. Chris Horodecki-Dan Lauzon

So there you have the top six fights on each card doing battle. Now its time for you to decide which has the bettter top heavy fight card. UFC 100 or Affliction: Trilogy.

*UFC 100 clearly has a better undercard so Jones vs. O'Brien was chosen to represent the undercard in this match-up. If you disagree, feel free to pick another fight.

They are nearly even in all honestly. I think the 3 main fights in the UFC are better and the undercard for Affliction is better.

I want as many shows as Affliction will give us, but unless they are obligated to pay these guys anyways, it doesn't make much sense to have a final show (from a business pov)

I would love to see the UFC get that kid Horodecki. St. Pierre v Alves could be fight of the year if both are focused, and Alves makes weight. Lol..

No, but I think the other 2 UFC fights are better than the other 2 Affliction fights. Barnett - Fedor is definitely better.

I think Mir - Lesnar is a bad way to end UFC 100. If the fight isn't really short, I think it will be sloppy and boring. Imagine those 2 striking against each other in the 4th round?

but you said the 3 main fights were better than the affliction ones. however I do agree with you about the Lesnar fight ending 100, i think it should be GSP, but in the UFC money talks and no one can deny that Lesnar brings in the $$$, plus it is a hwt title fight. I cannot imagine a 4th rd between those two, in fact i can even imagine a 3rd rd. that fight ends in the 1st.

I didn't mean all 3 were better than the other 3; meant that I think the 3 by the UFC taken as a group is better.

I think it should end with the GSP fight too - if that were to go for rounds, both guys have experience in fights like that.

It is possible that Lesnar will decide to stand with him, making it a standup fight.

    lol, I was breakin balls.

that GSP fight should be awesome. Im looking forward to that and the Hendo/Bisping fight.

Lesnar will stand with him, he has nothing to offer on the ground unless hes on top but even then its iffy unless he has a full mount and rains down some hard strikes.

Mur needs to get him down somehow and keep him there in order to tap him, I cant see him winning a stand up unless hes in close, Lesnar has too much reach.

I think Bisping - Hendo will go the distance but could be boring if Bisping just tries to land jabs and win on points (which I think he will do).

GSP - Alves could be awesome, especially if Alves can stuff takedowns or get up quickly.
