Default Andrei Arlovski realizes Boxing doesn't translate well to MMA

    http://www.watchkalibrun.com/2009/6/...ealizes-boxing

I focused too much on boxing and not enough on the wrestling and jiu-jitsu. It wasn't right. It's another thing I have to think about. MMA is not boxing. I have to change something. I don't understand this question about my chin. When you open your face for four or five punches it doesn't matter your chin, you will get KOed. Rogers was great, he did what he did. I took the fight and I got my ass kicked, it's that simple. It's embarrassing, but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I have to move on. I'm definitely going to come back.

I don't understand the question about my chin? This didn't start with this fight.

He had his rematch with Sylvia all but won when a wobbly Sylvia dropped him defensively.

I guess chuck is guilty of the same thing, train wrestling and submissions for defense only and try to fight everyone pretty much the same way, with your hands.

He's still real talented and I hope we can see him against some other top guys. I've always wanted to see him fight Nog (who appears to be declining) and Cro Cop.

haha nice spin snakerattle. He said he needs to spend more time on wrestling and bjj not just boxing. Its not like he is going to stop training boxing now.

Claudale, arlovski has to have that line of thinking otherwise his confidence will be shot.

Whatever it was Arlovski has learned the error of his ways. He posted this comment on his official website,

He put all his efforts into becoming the deadly standup guy that he is and he's incapable of handling the kind of offense he dishes out (that applies to a lot of guys, Liddell, Cro Cop).

I also think he needs to convince promotions that he's still good for a long fight. His last fight with Sylvia was boring, his last 2 losses were 1st round loses and his wins over O'Brien and Werdum were also boring.

He didn't say boxing doesn't translate to MMA, he said he trained too much boxing and didn't give other areas of his game enought attention.

Boxing still does translate just need to be good in all areas.

Claudale do you think he should abandon the stand up game since he has a weak chin? There are better grapplers than him so he would on the ground as well. He lost in the first twenty seconds to rogers so we cant say he was unwilling to go to the ground. Against Fedor his best bet was to keep it standing and it was working until he got sloppy.

I agree that he needs to mix his gameplans up a bit more and keep guys off balance but that doesnt mean that boxing doenst translate to mma.
