Always pleased to see your name come up on the Forums, Homer . I have always appreciated your knowledge, and your restraint in heated topics . We will meet one day , I am sure . CK Invitational?

Having him fight a mid tier guy may not make a whole lot of sense. But having him fight a guy like gray could make sense in terms of pushing gray.

I think Edgar could beat most of the guys in the divison but I think he would get stuck just below the top 2 or three. He will always be a top contender but i dont think he would the champion at 155 as long as penn or gray are there.

At 145 i think he would be king. He wouldnt be undersized so his wrestling would be more of a factor and his striking is getting better and better.
I don't think that Edgar should leave the UFC to be a WEC champion - remember, Uriah wanted to move up (as WEC champ) to 155 to be in the UFC and Dana wouldn't let him. UFC makes much more money, is a household name, brings much more exposure, . . . He can hang with everyone and beat almost everyone. The WEC may not be around forever - if they have a PPV, I doubt it will do well even with all the advertising help it will get from the UFC.

The UFC has a lot of "gatekeeper" guys already at 155 (Stevenson and Guida imo), but he's probably a step up from both of them.

I dont think edgar should or would leave the ufc anytime soon. Right now he is right in the heart of the race for top contender so he should play that out for as long as he can. I just think that at some point he will fall just short of the title spot, maybe even get a title shot.

By that time the wec should be developed even further and the top fighters salaries should increase.

Let me clarify that i dont think he is a gatekeeper just that i dont think he will be the champ and i think he could defintiely be the champ at 145. If the wec does breakthrough it could eventually be a great opportunity for him .

I have no problem with your gatekeeper comment; its a good way to keep people around who have exhausted their title shot opportunities.

If Florian loses again, he would fit that bill (lost in the finale and this is his second title shot).

Even if Edgar would lose to Maynard every single time because of the wrestling matchup, I still think he has a chance to beat guys that Gray may not be able to beat. Edgar has beaten a lot of top submission guys and has only been caught once and he didn't tap and went on to win that fight. Plus with everyone but Maynard, he can pick if he wants the fight to be standing or on the ground.

Maybe he'll meet Diaz soon or maybe he'll meet Diego.

I guess we don't know where Gray's submission defense is (better than his loss to Diaz I imagine). Both Gray and Edgar generally win by decision.

Franca vs. Griffin is now looking like it will happen at ufc 103.
