Cool thanks. It seems more likely that they will fight in september. Ufc 102 in late august looks pretty full and there is the september ufn and ppv.

I predict maynard vs sherk and griffin vs franca.

I always cheer for Gray because of his wrestling background and I got to talk to him in Vegas during the Mir-Lesnar event and he was a cool guy.

That makes sense for Tyson . However , Gray had been asking for Sherk since shortly after his Edgar fight . I am unsure if Silva will see it as viable after Frankie put a whoopin on him.

The results of some upcoming cards may clear the picture somewhat . Gray appears to be patient with the pace of his career and not obsessed with a Title shot presently .

Unless Florian beats BJ , of which I am highly sceptical , the likelyhood of another Lightweight Title fight before late 2010 is bleak . I love BJ, but it is what it is .

Thank all of you for your warm welcome .

Great to have you here sir. I know Gray from when he was out in AZ trying to start the Velocity thing w/ Larkin and Blackford. You've done a great job with him and it's nice to see him having success in UFC.

True but it seems that Gray would end up catching the loser of a fight either way. If sanchez wins his fight it seems he will get the next shot. That leaves some possibilities of Guida, Sherk, or Florian (if he loses).

He already fought Edgar and of course he wont fight Griffin.

One possibility could be the winner of the Stevenson/Diaz fight.

Sorry I get a little obsessed keep tracking of upcoming fights and predicting future matchups.

Thats good that Gray is being patient. I think he could beat almost everyone in the divison but think he could have some problems with Penn, Florian, and Sanchez. As he continues to develop his stand up and ground skills he could take a hold of the divison. Edgar is my favorite fighter in the division so I hope he drops down to 145 eventually.

I believe it might be in the best interest of Sherk ,from a UFC perspective , having a reasonably high percentage of a win ;and Gray does not fit that mold presently .Sherk is one of the higher paid Lightweights and needs a win to be contending . If my thinking is out of the bounds of conventional wisdom , please advise Jers .I have observed your future matchmaking and you are usually spot on .

As to Edgar moving down in weight , why ? Sanchez , Florian and Guida would find Frank a problematic match-up indeed .

Yeah, I think Sherk likely takes a step down in competition, rather then a step up (which is what going from Edgar to Maynard would be). No disrespect to Edgar, but Maynard is just better then him as of now.

Im not quite sure what they will do with Sherk. He is 34 and at this point is at his peak. They may realize that he will not be the champion so they might put him in somewhat of a gatekeeper role of fighting the top up and comers to see if they are ready for a title shot.

Having him fight a mid tier guy may not make a whole lot of sense. But having him fight a guy like gray could make sense in terms of pushing gray.

I think Edgar could beat most of the guys in the divison but I think he would get stuck just below the top 2 or three. He will always be a top contender but i dont think he would the champion at 155 as long as penn or gray are there.

At 145 i think he would be king. He wouldnt be undersized so his wrestling would be more of a factor and his striking is getting better and better.
