Default The Dana White appreciation blog

Guys, I'm going to go ahead ans shoot straight here and I hope you all will do the same. I know that a lot of you don't like to give Mr. Dana White his due and often times will jump on him with the mob mentality. One or two individuals will post their displeasure about him and suddenly like a feeding frenzy, Claudale and the usual suspects jump right in and attack the man who has given us so much. I want this to be a place where you can come and voice your feelings about the man who saved the UFC from extinction and in the process has made more millionaires than anyone else in MMA. Not just the money though, lets forget about the money for a minute. Think about all the free MMA we have now, (cable programming costs notwithstanding). Hell, the UFC is on ESPN, Sports Illustrated, and even on national news. MMA has reached mainstream and we have Mr. Dana White to thank for it all.

Lets look at the man if we could and marvel at his rise, after coming from a back ground that had failure written all over it. He could have very easily not made it out of Boston and instead ended up like so many youth who are shackled by the streets and their menacing ways. But no, Mr. White stood up and headed out west. He did what he had to do. Chiseled and skilled in boxing, Dana White is an intimidating figure, but he is also very cerebral. Make no mistake, Dana White is more brains than braun. Orchestrating the purchase of the UFC can be described as a virtual coup. Others have tried, (attentionhoe comes to mind) but have been unable to do what Mr. White did and is continuing to do. The sky is the limit for the UFC and with its great leader paving the way, it is only a matter of time before we are treated to UFC global domination. I envision watching live UFC events right from my computer, as I sit on my favorite beach drinking Pina Colatas and Margaritas with my favorite ladies. Thank you Mr. Dana White. A true Icon of the MMA and business world.

    I welcome your positive comments.

Hells yes, Herr Adolph. I think the entirety of the MMA board stands behind your post and sentiment. Three cheers for Mr. White!

You forgot to mention his most impressive accomplishment--when he nailed the fabled Triple Lindy at JazzBoxFest 2004. He was behind on the scorecards until he stuck the landing, ripping his teal leotard in the process. The man has large, bald stones.
    I heart Jazzy B. White.

I liked MMA when it was more of a cult following type thing anyways.

I'm glad the UFC is in business, he deserves to make money (which he has, far more than the "more than god" sum that Chuck has made) but lets not get too carried away. MMA existed and was good before he arrived.

I prefer having more shows but with anything else, marginal utility applies.

Adolf I remember how excited you were over Germany in the Europe cup finals. If they had those more often (or the World Cup for that matter) it would take some of the excitement away that is the result of waiting).

I'd have to disagree with dana being a menacing figure. Yes he makes mean faces and yells a lot but the tight shirt/man tits combo kind of ruins it for him.

If there was no Vince McMahon, there would be no Dana White.

Did the OBC really call him "chisled"???
Like Billy Jacks' soul attack, I'm one Injun you wont forget.

Didn't you see the documentary where he was benching 315? The man is yoked, (I learned that one from Winston).

Claudale please change that god awful avatar to something nicer. I loved the one of your boys executing their moves. WTF is the current one of, a self portrait of you when you turn 60???

most of the av is judo - young kids doing advanced moves, figured you'd like that.

I also don't like that the UFC bought Pride without running a single show.

and although you say (pretend to think) that they planned on running it, Dana always cries about allegedly going $44m in the whole and he doesn't say that about this $65m investment. Actually, he has said he did it for the videos. I think he didn't want anyone else running them, he didn't want anyone promoting new fights with old videos (like Fedor) and he wanted to be the only real option in terms of fighter salaries so their ability to negotiate was limited.

and they bought it in a hurry, so whatever you say about being duped, no one rushes and buys something for $65m without doing their homework if they plan on running that business.

And Dana pressing 6 plates is not all that exceptional. Tank pressed 12 plates and is far from being ranked as a fighter.

Oh I see what's going on. When I view the avatar, it is stuck on one frame, your portrait when you're 60. If I refresh, it appears on a different frame. Sorry, must be a bug on my electronic device.

Here's a video of Mr. White hard at work

I don't know why this always turns into an argument. Mr. White has done so much for the sport we all love and he gets criticized for it.
